I know what you're thinking, punk. You're thinking "did he fire six shots or only five?" Now to tell you the truth I forgot myself in all this excitement. But being this is a .44 Magnum, the most powerful handgun in the world and will blow you head clean off, you've gotta ask yourself a question: "Do I feel lucky?" Well, do ya, punk?

I remember seeing this a couple of years ago and contrary to most people, I didn't find it to be so sad. I enjoyed the theme and the animation a lot, it really is gorgeous, but far from the sob-fest people claim it is.

Or maybe I'm just an insensitive douche :S

As can be judged from my negative review of the movie here, I think it's overrated, maudlin trash.

And since MAL's functionality is awful and I can't perma-link reviews, here are my thoughts on a different site;

I just figured out how to permalink reviews the other day, haha! It is a bit of a pain, but you need to find your reviews id (which can be seen if you mouse over 'report' on the review) and then include at the end of this link: http://myanimelist.net/reviews.php?id=

For example, your Fireflies review would be: http://myanimelist.net/reviews.php?id=10571
I write about manga → morningroo.com

Ah, thanks! I knew how to get the review ID and that it would be necessary for the permalink, but always ended up writing the url address slightly incorrectly.

If you find yourself incapable of seeing Grave of the Fireflies exceptional usage of surrealism, art and well timed emotive musical scoring to help drive the plot forward, then you're probably going to be one of the people either calling the movie boring, or perhaps be one of the haters advocating the oxymoron that children are responsible for their immaturity. If you can empathize with the very real human experience of being young and naive to a fault, then you will probably join the ranks of the overwhelming majority of people who agree that this film is an amazing animated film. Great selection for MOTF.
