Heh, long distance relationships may not always work but there are cases when they do. Some of the quotes in this chapter got my eye twitching though.

I love how Akio interpret the professor reaction. Yoshino is still being a bitch here, harassing Akio despite never intended to lose her ties with the old guy.

Akio handled the call pretty good.

His response before that was sarcastic and guilty tripping too. A good response to Yoshino bullshit way of getting him back. She doesn't even make sense on what's she talking about, just a desperate attempt to appease Akio and keep the conversation going. Probably because she needs to get laid somehow, again.

Ello to VLR avatar.

I thought he'd dump her after she confessed in the hotel room. Something along the lines of "you're fucking crazy.. who would want to continue after hearing that". He's right to not take anymore bullshit from her any longer. From "i'll give you a call in one week" to "I can't promise you an exact date" LOL.

I see my choice of avatar is not so obscure after all :P

What I did not like was his facial expression where he looked happy to talk to her. Loved he hung up on her - but he sort of regrets in chapter 21. So bad foreshadowing....meaning he's going to take her back because he feels bad for her.

I'm pretty sure the story will end with them reconciling and live happily ever after. Just hoping that the author didn't do it cheaply, for the lack of a better term.

:)

I think it's going to be rather cheap unless Yoshino crawls through broken glass begging Akio to take her back. The way she treated him and the way she told him he was her backup, does not make for a meaningful reconciliation. It just means she couldn't be with the other guy and settles for Akio. Not what I would call a happy ending.

The only way I can see Akio getting back with Yoshino is if Yoshino is pregnant. She can't be after all those medical tests, though. Anything else would be illogical. Akio knows what type of person Yoshino is and that she never loved him. It SHOULD be done.

That aside, the smartest thing Akio will ever do is what he did in this chapter: pulling the plug on the phone call. He knew Yoshino was bullshitting and just using him for her own needs again, without consideration, so he fought off his happiness over the phone call and done what needed to be done. Doesn't make up for him not doing it in ch16, in person, but at least he finally did it.

And, yeah: the scene with the professor was good. He assumed the worst about Akio and learned never to judge people on how they appear. It was a nice touch for him to say he wouldn't tell anyone, as well.

...btw, how did Akio jump from only ever wanting to work to appease Yoshino / marry her to looking for jobs after being dumped? He wasn't even looking after himself before. WEIRD.

Yoshino is just plain horrible. She doesn't want the familiarity of the relationship to be gone but she wants the spark of her attraction to that old guy. Despicable.
