Personally, i think in many aspects, he was a good guy because he seemed to hav helped alot of people with problems that would hav otherwise destroyed them, like the woman with the split-personality who was on the verge of suicide. But what do you think?
"Forged in darkness with wheat harvested from Hell's half acre. Baked by Beelzabub; slathered with mayonnaise beaten from the evil eggs of dark chickens, force-fed to dogs by the hands of a one-eyed madman. Cheese boiled from the rancid utters of fanged cows. Layered with 666 separate meats from an animal which has maggots for blood."

Yeah, I think that he was a little bit of both since he only attacked people who wanted to be attacked, but in the end...

eh, you needed a good ending, and that seemed to fit the bill

I don't think Lil' Slugger was helping those people. I guess it all depends on your point of view. He was just giving them an excuse to run away from their problems, instead of facing them head-on like they should.

Personally, I think he's just evil.

That is true.Shounen Bat was a bit of both.
He attacked the people who had problems, and helped them.Well the people feel better after the attacks. It depends on how you look at it.He is good and evil in my option.

Depends on who you ask and how you look at the show. If you look at it metaphorically, as the anime intends, Shounen Bat is simply a means of escaping reality. Tsukiko's Shounen Bat was the lie she made up as a child, Taeko's Shounen Bat was repressing the memory of her father, 'Lil Slugger's Shounen Bat was suicide.
So look at real life situations. People try to escape reality on a daily basis, in the form of lies, denial, repression, excuses, fantasy, radical beliefs, and other things like suicide. The reason people lie to themselves is because it makes them feel better for whatever reason. Reality is harsh. Some facts you don't want to be true. Some unrealities you do want to be true. Often, it's just the ego trying to preserve itself.
So a better question would be, how do you feel about lies/denial/other methods of escaping reality?
