How did you feel about the last episode? I was a bit disappointed. Why did she has to give up stealing? After all, it was for a good cause, and she had even the support of God. And why the horrible haircut at the end?

I loved the series, but some things I just couldn't understand (why not just wear a mask if you really want to hide your face).

What if the Hokey Pokey is what it is all about?

Because she was in love, and therefore, had to prepare to become a good, obedient wifey to Asuka Jr. Never mind that she was 14 or 15 at the end of the series.

This anime/manga's ending genuinely pissed me off when I first read it. Why did she need to give up doing what she loved for the sake of some guy with zero personality whatsoever?

Oh, wait, I forgot--this is a shoujo series, so it's all part of the formula. Never mind.

Exactly, if he really loved her, he should have started to support her. She did nothing wrong, and he even realised that.. and still... weird :P.

Actually she was 22-23 when the series ended.

She did give the vow if she ever got caught she would give up her criminal ways.

She did give the vow if she ever got caught she would give up her criminal ways. And she did when she saved Asuka Jr. from Mama.

It's been so long that I kind of forgot about that. Sorry! Still, the ending was a huge disappointment for me when I read/watched it at 14. Maybe it was because I cared more about Saint Tail/Meimi helping others in an unconventional way than the entire Asuka Jr./Meimi angle.

Ahaha, I was pretty much only watching this for the Asuka Jr. and Meimi coupling, so seeing them get together was pretty much all that mattered to me. Still, pretty un-special ending. No fantastic twists or dashing story-telling here, just a cute romance story panned out over 43 episodes.

Still, it was enjoyable. Don't think I would watch it again, but nevertheless I enjoyed the first run through. :)

It was enjoyable at first but I'm disappointed from the ending that haircut is horrible and she could hide her face if she want to hide her identity -_-

My top pet peeve of this series. Unlike other magical girl shows, where it doesn't matter a lot if the magical girl shows her face (either she looks completely different, has a mask, or by the magic of the plot I mean powers people don't recognize her when transformed) the approach to her identity is more realistic in that if anyone actually sees her face, they can recognize her. I can't count how many times I want to throw something of a window when she made a big deal of not showing her face... only to fully show it once she was at a "safe distance" that wasn't safe at all. I don't know other people but even I, a short-sighted person (I have heavy prescription glasses) could've recognized her at her "safe distances." And if it was that dangerous, why the hell not wear a mask!? What's the point of transforming at all if the most important part is uncovered!? There's only so much suspension of disbelief I will grant a show, this one's too much.

I'm surprised the voice didn't give her away. She was Asuka's classmate for the longest time.
Which one do you want? An Addiction or A Good Life?
A) Addiction - a progressive narrowing of the things that bring you pleasure.
B) A Good Life - a progressive expansion of the things that bring you pleasure and includes pleasure through motivation and hard work.

The final episode was quite underwhelming, really really disappointed.

First of all, we don't know how St. Tail escaped from Maju, just a simple flashback. And it has passed at least 4 days, which could have been used to see Meimi's inner thoughts.

Interesting to see that it's Seira and not Meimi who wants the latter to continue being St. Tail, Meimi already fell deeply in love with Asuka Jr. Also interesting that Asuka Jr. finally taking notice of Meimi/St. Tail's love.

The "stealing Asuka Jr." part was pretty standard for Kaitou St. Tail, but Asuka Jr. escaped from Maju almost failed when he made a bad step and almost fell. St. Tail used her balloons to save him, and Maju made one final attack on her, where she fell to Asuka Jr's arms. It's a shame that Rosemary and Maju didn't get punished for their actions.

The epilogue is set 8 years in the future, really liked that Asuka Jr. is now an full-fledged detective, the final episodes, he was already catching up the criminals. Rina looks so cute with her police uniform, Sawatari looks like a freelance reporter. However, Meimi looks absolutely bad, that hair is for a 60 years old woman, not a 23 years old woman.

Summarizing, I think this final episode could have been done in 2 episodes and that'll have been a 9/10, instead, I'll put it 8/10.

could be better ending yes, we got proposing which was nice, but last 2 ep could be better executed, but now after long ride its been fun. Tho asuka really did have zero personality i would like better mc guy at this moment, and the way she is revealed was lame. Wished either not get caught or if she did in some really fabulous way.

This anime was badly paced. Right when they introduce a new interesting character who multiple times almost catches St. Tail, they take her LITERALLY out of the series for several eps and barely feature her too many times when she returns. At the end they bring in a new rival character, only to botch it as she and her Mama are used to end the series with when they should've been in the show sooner. Way to many eps feature the same plot points (aka filler) and all this just, doesn't help the show, it hinders it.

As for this last ep, something you might not realize about why Meimi cut her hair (Which still looks pretty even short) is not just the usual girl cuts her hair trope to show resolve/change but in Meimi's case its symbolic as she likely cut her hair the night (or following day) she saved Asuka Jr. and this represents St. Tail's end which we know she gave up being St. Tail. Her Phantom Thief name comes from her pony tail after all, but without long hair unless she wanted to wear a wig or use magic to get the pony tail back, she'd have no way to become St. Tail again (besides letting her hair grow long again that is) and that's the whole point. She gave up being St. Tail and that's why she cut her hair. I only thought about it after the ep ended because it comes outta no where, everyone else has their same hair style even (for the few we saw) so it made me think on why she cut her hair and I quickly realized the meaning behind it that it represents the end of St. Tail and yes, I agree with others that she shouldn't have given being St, Tail up but it was her decision and she herself did say if she were ever caught she'd likely give up being a thief and she did. While I have mixed feelings about how she was caught and agree it should of been handled better and done differently, I am glad she was caught as that was part of the recurring theme and show and how many couples even get the happy end that Meimi and Asuka Jr. got in their own shows? Not many which is another reason I'm glad they ended the show on that 8 years later scene.

A little disappointing finale since Maju & her mom could've been introduced a lot earlier in the series and given more weight with periodic appearances of them getting in Meimi's way, sort of like Team Rocket. Otherwise, they should've had Phantom Lucifer suit up one last time and for an oyakodon free-for-all. As it is, Maju and Rosemary just felt tacked on and walk off with basically no resolution.

Personally, I liked the epilogue and the haircut, but I wish that was a whole episode in itself so we could get a bigger picture of everyone's daily life. Maybe see Asuka going in for a big bust, Rina doing some "You're Under Arrest" type stuff to get there with Sawatori along for the ride for the big scoop. Come home to Meimi developing new magic with an elderly Ruby and her family, then close with the proposal.

I didn't like how she abandoned the thug life altogether, either. Sure, she followed up on her promise and her mother's footsteps, but she and Asuka would've have made a great pair with her and Seira providing the leads and assisting from the shadows even if the name St. Tail was no longer in the public's eyes. And yes, wear a mask! They could've at least added a blurb about somebody new or even St. Seira carrying on the mantle instead of letting criminals skate by for 8 years and counting. Think of all the poor souls who still came to her for help and got nothing!

Anyways, awesome series that hit all the right notes.

Aaahh, finally finished it after grinding through unnecessary amount of filler episodes...

This anime honestly would benefit more with a remake much more faithful to the manga since so many hints and clues regarding the main characters have been left out in the anime, making them seem like one-dimensional characters. Although I don't want to hope too much for that, and will just turn to the manga.

About the ending... it definitely is badly paced. The anime feed on fillers (90%) while there aren't much canon episodes, but I guess it's because of the manga being so short. That's why the villains for the finale felt so... lacking. They were there for convenience of executing the ending...

Asuka is really such a dense guy...I guess that's what happens if you don't grow up with a mom and has to be basically take care of the house while being an honor student. Even by the final warning letter, he couldn't decipher Meimi's feelings...but honestly, I am so glad he still forgave her.

Contrary to everyone here is thinking, I think it was a fitting ending that Meimi cut her hair short to symbolize that she has given up being Saint Tail, and a promise is a promise! It was heavily emphasized in the show, you just don't turn your back on it, do you?

@SlammyHammy I agree with the epilogue! It definitely should have been longer like you said! The ending, while it had exact closure, made you felt like wanting more! Like ti wasn't enough!

Oh well~ immma read the manga extra chapters then.

Btw, this is the first time I've known someone shipping Seira and Rina.

@Tsira dude was dense as heck, not to mention he was still in turmoil that Saint Tail is revealed to be Meimi, he couldn't accept the fact his constant denial of the truth in favor of Meimi [even though the evidences were presented multiple times right in front of his face] was proven wrong. In one word, his pride clouded his mind...
