I would ask this in the Kanon sub-board but I didn't know what one to post it in. I wouldn't like Neon Genesis Evangelion so much if I saw the rebuilds first.

Do I watch Kanon (2006) only or are they different enough to enjoy?

So far as I know, '02 is a far shorter version of '06, and has 'bad' art. Nevertheless, it could be enjoyable.

You'll hardly across anyone who'll watch '02 these days - probably for good reason.

But you may as well wait for someone who's seen them both so you can get an informed opinion. (Are you sure there aren't already threads on this?)

Watch the 2006 version first so that you can laugh at the inferior 2002 version later..

just watch 06 and leave it at that

there is nothing to be gained from 02 that you can't get a lot better from 06

I can't believe you are still asking this question after watching 60+ days worth of anime.

If you want permanent eye damage, watch the original. If not watch the newer version.

Just watch 06. Made by KyoAni so you know its going to be pretty. The story is longer and more in depth as a result.

If you have tons of time to kill though then watch both at your own will.

The 2002 version of Kanon doesn't exist. It's just an urban myth, like the Tsukihime anime.
The only True Ending is the Harem Ending.

Yet somehow people watched it back in 2002-05 without going blind or getting "eyecancer" or whatever.

In general, there isn't a need to watch the 2002 series, but the extra "Kazahana" special does have unique content that isn't in the 2006 series.

Everything that connects to MAL

Contains Ecchi, but not Tagged Ecchi: Part 1 || Part 2 || Part 3

Hmm weird, after reading up on some stuff of NGE I absolutely loved the original series.
Rebuilds have their own charm but the original series + NGE is definitely as good if not better.

There are 3 things that Kanon 2002 has that the remake does not have

1- While they are both pretty much the same ending in the final episode, the one from 2002 is a bit more satisfying.

2- Kanon 2002 has Kanon Kazahana, which is like its After Story (minus the drama).

3- In Kanon 2002, the blue hair chick actually likes the male MC. I dont think in the remake that she has a crush on him if I remember.

One of the things that I just didnt like at all of this remake is that the male MC picked the same chick he picked in the 2002 version.

COME ON!!!!!!

If in this version he would have picked another heroine, hopefully Nayuki, then the 2002 version would not feel "useless". Now their is no point of watching the 2002 version other than the Kazahana episode, which is kinda like this anime's After Story.

In Clannad, the only way to get After Story is for the male MC to pick Nagisa, which stinks because she stunk and the best chicks were Kyou and the dorm chick by far. But in this remake version, the male MC should have picked Nayuki.
thanks just wanted to knwk this ^~^)✨

I would watch 2002 before 2006, if you can stand the artstyle (it's closer to the original VN btw).
Because, then 2006 would still be interesting as a kind of "upgrade" in terms of graphics and amount of content. At least that worked for me.
Pacing is faster in the old version. It has less comedy moments, so it feels more dramatic.
I actually like how they handled some moments better, for example the Nayuki route.
Old blurry graphics adds some nostalgic feel which blends well with this winter fairy-tale.
