There are numerous opportunities for members to become involved in the decision making process on MAL, if you haven't taken advantage of them then you only have yourself to blame when we reach a decision that you do not like. We cannot wait around to make sure we have everyone's approval, we need to limit ourselves to those who choose to become involved.

In light of recent updates this club is to act as a hub for those who  seek to be more active in the decision making of the MAL staff. Here we're to discuss the facets and flaws of updates and suggestions as well as seek removal/alternatives to existing updates/policies. It is this club's purpose to help make the communities opinion on issues known and better discussed.

(Rules of Conduct)

1. Do not insult in place of legitimate reason. This club is not intended to be a hate club nor will I allow it to degrade into such.

2. Do not chat about unrelated topics. Chat is tolerated as long as it pertains to a thread's topic and promotes opinion. 

3. Advertise. Yes, it's a rule. You can choose to either include a link to the club in your About Me/Signature or tell one person on your friends list about it.

4. Stay active. If we're to voice an opinion it needs to be up to date and informed. The very least one can do is read the Current Events and or vote on thread polls.

Well, I can accept that. My issue was with their number. They occupy 90% of CD these days. If it were a small community, it would have been no issue. But this is a large one. General experiences of the kind that are brought up are largely the same for everyone (such as breakups, friendships etc). Most of the posts in such threads sound the same, because they are the same.

In larger forums, the community is better off discussing more impersonal matters. But I guess this isn't a problem of the rules or administration; it's the problem of the community.

How do they offer less discussion than listing threads? Are users simply quoting someone and agreeing with their post? I'd imagine shared experiences would offer more opportunity to connect and discuss given their personal matter. Though, I hope I'm right to assume you mean the ones where most users solely reply to the OP and not each other.

CD is to encompass what isn't by the other boards. Basically, where the misfits go belong.

I have something to say about a certain type of threads in CD: The 'share your experiences' kind.

They offer much less discussion value than the listing ones yet they're allowed. And they occupy the most of Casual Discussion (or maybe the point of CD is this type of discussion?). I don't know what to think of them.

Suppose I should address some things now that I'm technically "back". First, I'm not really "back", as at any time I could be taken away. But, presently I do have some free time that I can spend on MAL. I may create a few threads if deemed important enough and I'll try to stir discussion, but no promises of grandeur. If you'd like to help the club/discussion, there's always an officer spot free.
