About
Japanime Springfield is a Japanese interest club looking to learn about the culture and unite fun-loving students of UIS with shared interests.
Mission
Japanime Springfield will hope to educate students on different aspects of Japanese culture, as well as host events where club members and other members of the student body can experience the fusion of Japanese culture and American culture, particularly in the interest of pop culture and modern entertainment.
Description
The club founder, Jerica Griffin, had been in the Anime Club at her high school for four years, and loving the experience she had learning about the Japanese culture, making friends, and realizing new passions, she wanted to create new memories at her new school, the University of Illinois Springfield, by starting her own anime club called "Japanime Springfield".

"Japanime" is a shortened version of the phrase Japanese anime. Anime is the Japanese style of cartoons, such as manga is the Japanese style of comic books.
Japanime Springfield is a community within the University of Illinois Springfield, where students interested in Japanese culture - from the history to modern day practices and trends - can associate with like-minded peers and explore different aspects of Japanese culture. Club members can learn about and enjoy characteristics of Japan such as attire, entertainment, food, history, language, and pop culture.
