There is some elite that have reflect dmg which make glass cannon kinda useless.

I am playing tanky witch doctor ,I can clear act1 easily but next I just can't hold.

That is really awesome, I am impressed!

Melee classes have to go defensive pretty much. Too much damage going at close range for you to be anything less. Range classes have it a little better, they have more freedom to stacking more dps without it being too hard on them. I know a glass cannon mage who doesn't stack too many defensive stats, but he gets by pretty well just killing stuff really fast, only downside is he can't solo much of the content.
