Fatal Frame 5 is out, however, only on Wii U. :/
If it ever happens that the game gets released on PS4 perhaps, it won't happen anytime soon. It's pretty sad, but Nintendo has the rights on the FF team for now.

Fatal Frame 5 coming out. Any idea if they will release it for Play Station?

I actually already have a copy of FFIII. I bought it used a couple months ago at Gamestop (the original is near unfindable) and was going to start playing it after I had finished FFIV. I thought all the games were standalone but I guess that's not the case. X3 So.. I'll probably use money I'll get from selling my textbooks next month to buy FFI on Amazon.. All in good time I guess :D

I think that's cool that they all share certain elements and at the same time are different games.

I haven't played FFIII or FFI so I don't know how it stacks up against them in length but it is a little bit longer than FFII. I'm thinking the average runtime on a first playthrough is 12-15 hours. X3 If I wasn't so darn busy, I'd of finished it by now. Stupid univ >.>

Umm.. I've only played FFII prior to this so my comparison is a bit limited. Story-wise, it's very similar. Failed rituals, hellgates, frail Japanese school girls, and the works. The butterfly motif is replaced with a mask motif.

I like FFII's storry better though since it made me feel more emotionally involved. Since you were trying to escape this hellish village with your twin sister. FFIV, Madoka/Misaki/Ruka come to the island of their own free will to regain their memories and continue to move forward even after being attacked by ghosts (me, I'd run the other way X3). And then there's Choshiro who follows behind them after getting a request from Ruka's mother to save her. I don't know, I haven't finished it so maybe the ending will blow my socks off :P

As far as scariness, it's still pretty darn creepy especially when you have the lights off and the volume cranked up. I think it's harder than FFII at least. FFII I remember having 20 million herbal medicines and type 14 film at the end but I've been challenged by one or two boss fights so far. The wii controls take some time to get used to and even after that, I still find them a little awkward (not game ruining but I'd still prefer to play it with a standard controller).

I'm way ahead of you there. I've been playing FFIV since the English translation patch was released in January. I still haven't beat it though (just barely starting chapter 11) because of that darn thing called school. >-< http://www.cameraslens.com/forum/index.php?topic=8720.100 - you can find links to download the patch there
