Kashimashi ~Girl Meets Girl~

Information
--------------------------------------------------------------------- Welcome to the Kashimashi Fan Club! Enjoy your stay! --------------------------------------------------------------------- A fan club devoted to all things related to Kashimashi, a bittersweet shoujo tale of innocent young romance and gender identity issues (to say the least!). Just established on 12/20/07, it is my sincere hope that the efforts put forth here in the times to come will attract members in the form of current enthusiasts of the series, as well as those that are interested in, or feel some relation with, the series on one or more of its myriad of levels. That said, welcome one and all to this Kashimashi fan club, enjoy your time here, and consider staying on with us! Suffice to say, Kashimashi is a lovestory--a bittersweet romance set in the innocence (and emotional peak) of the high school years. ~Plot Synopsis~

First, some background. The story of Kashimashi focuses around the life of Osaragi Hazumu (remember, family names are given first in Japan, so westernized you'd be looking at the name 'Hazumu Osaragi'), who for all intents and purposes is a typical second year high school boy, save for the fact that he's noticably more effeminate than his peers. He's shy, timid, and enjoys nothing more than his peaceful passion for gardening. Most of his time is spent wandering the tranquil paths of Kashima mountain, the tallest peak in Kashima City, where he can be alone with the various species of flora he so adores. It is on an expedition to catalog plant species in this very place that he quite accidentally encounters a girl he doesn't really know well from his class, one Kamiizumi Yasuna. Over the next few weeks, the two seem to be hitting it off rather well, Hazumu's gentle nature something of an attractor for Yasuna. They spend a lot of time tending Kashima High's rooftop gardens together, and as a sign of their platonic relationship, they each plant a flowering plant, one next to the other, in the smaller gardens near the entrance to the school. His and Hers. Hazumu's two best friends, Kurusu Tomari and Soro Asuta, aren't about to see this golden opportunity at young romance go to waste, however! Asuta is an even more typical high school boy than Hazumu is, and constantly goads him into admitting his honest feelings to the girl he's crushing on. Tomari has been Hazumu's closest confidante since before either of them can remember, and in a typical tomboyish fashion, she too tries to push her friend into going after something he wants for once in his life. Odd that she seems the tiniest bit hesitant about it, though... At any rate, Hazumu is destined to live a complicated young life, and it's on one particularly nice evening that he climbs the slopes of Kashima mountain once again, this time to loose himself in depression at apparently being rejected and sacrificing a new friendship in the name of romance. Depending on how you look at it, what happens next could be as much a blessing as a curse, but Hazumu is struck by an out-of-control alien spacecraft near the peak of the mountain! The good news is, his life can be saved, the bad news is, the aliens accidentally and irreversably switch Hazumu's gender in the process! As if his life wasn't tricky enough, Hazumu is forced to reaquaint himself with his friends, family, and a slew of former and new love interests--as well as to try to get used to his new role as a girl! Hijinks, slapstick, lots of innuendo, and tearfully beautiful romance ensue, and that's the story of Kashimashi!! Hopefully this little overview of the basic plot will be of help as you tour the club. Again, thanks so much for your support and interest in this beautifully simplistic tale of innocent romance!
~End Plot Synopsis~

Somebody needs to revive this club!!!!!!

Kashimashi for ever!!!!

Gaidai | Feb 28, 2011 10:41 AM
Yeah, they make trading figures for completely different reasons than the really nice sculptures. Expensive, but very hard to refuse, for your favorites ;)

Worst part about figurines is the price of them, the really nice ones need a bank loan! I am waiting to get a Kanade from Angel Beats figurine, then I can go on pension!

Gaidai | Feb 10, 2011 9:21 AM
Yeah, me too on the pickiness thing. Trading figures can be a serious addiction, money pit, and leave you with too much stuff sitting around to display properly. I've been moving towards nicer quality stuff recently. I don't have any Kashimashi figures that aren't gashapon style, though.

I have a lot of the smaller figurines at work so that I have more space at home for the big ones. I always sauy I wont buy anymore, but the reality is, I still buy, but now I am being very picky about what I buy.

Gaidai | Feb 9, 2011 12:11 PM
Nice :)

I ended up with a spare Ayuki, so I now have one of her sitting on my desk at work. I only ever display spare figures at work. The very fact that I have spare figures probably means I'm an addict, though >.>;

Picked up Yasuna the other day in the trading figures, and I have Ayuki that I bought a few years back. My collection is coming along.

Gaidai | Jan 3, 2011 9:42 AM
Oh yeah, the trading figures can be hard to come by sometimes. I got lucky -- a few years back I was at a con, and a dealer table was selling mountains of them for $5 apiece. I bought like a fiend, and ended up finding out that there were actually two different sets of them released with different poses.

Saw that omnibus in the book store the other day. Wish they'd released it like that to begin with -- it's a great idea. I wouldn't mind having it myself....I just can't justify rebuying something I already have for that purpose :(
