In the manga, after this happens, she dates Yahiro for a while, but on New Years, when she admits her feelings for him, he turns her down. Megumi is aware that this is because he likes Akira.
Even when not dating her, Yahiro encouaged Megumi to sing, and helped her. He even tells her that he enjoys her singing. When Yahiro asked why she was crying, she tells him, and then runs away out of embarresment, afraid of his answer. Thanks to Yahiro, Megumi eventually ends up getting a singing contract, and things go well for her. Though he tells her that he does not return her feelings.
