EncridEncrid is the main protagonist of The Knight Who Only Lives Today. He is a footsoldier who obtains the ability to go back in time prior to his most recent death. Through this endless loop, Encrid hones his abilities, learning from each death and growing stronger with every iteration. His determination and tactical mind allow him to rise above his past, gradually becoming a formidable warrior who seeks to overcome his potential.Encrid is a tall, muscular man with sharp, striking features that give him a distinguished presence. His dark hair, often tousled, falls in bangs that partially obscure his intense, focused eyes. When he taps into his abilities or faces moments of high emotion, his gaze becomes more piercing, and his features seem to sharpen. He is usually seen in battle-worn armor, a combination of defensive pieces and everyday wear. His attire, though practical, speaks of his status as a seasoned warrior, and despite his countless battles, he carries himself with a quiet, unyielding determination. Encrid is a complex character, shaped by the endless cycle of life and death that defines his existence. At his core, he is driven by an unwavering resolve to better himself, constantly seeking the strength to overcome each new challenge. His repeated lives have given him a patient and pragmatic mindset, allowing him to learn from every failure. With a strong sense of duty, Encrid holds himself to the highest standards, often pushing himself beyond his limits in pursuit of growth. Despite his stoic nature, he is not immune to moments of emotional turmoil, as the weight of his never-ending existence occasionally takes its toll. Encrid learned rudimentary swordsmanship from a retired mercenary who he crossed paths with when the mercenary passed through his town. He gained his dream to become a knight from this mercenary who complimented the capacity he had for supposedly learning. At some point in his life, Encrid wound up in the position as the fourth company, fourth platoon's fourth squad leader, also referred to as the "444 squad leader corporal." Encrid spectates a squire from the Knights of the Order of the Crimson Cloaks, and he becomes aware of the gap between his own skill and that of the squire. He later takes the test for promotion as a footsoldier after recovering from his wounds, and he is promoted from his rank of "base" to "high" within Naulilia's ranking system. Afterwards, he receives several offers to join other divisions, but he ultimately turns them down in favor of remaining with the fourth company.
