The Mad Hatter works for the Queen of Hearts in Wonderland. His duty is to protect Alice. He does not like the Cheshire Cat.
His true identity is Lewis Carroll, the teacher of the original Alice Liddell.
He met Alice Liddell at a funeral for her mother and the child that died in her womb. She became enamored with his writing and the two became close. Alice's older brother, Charlotte Liddell, became suspicious of their closeness. Charlotte wanted Lewis Carroll to stop involving Alice in his madness as she was ill and not something to be exploited in his fictional world.
Lewis Carroll eventually becomes so obsessed with Alice in Wonderland that he can no longer tell the difference between fiction and reality and ends up shooting Alice Liddell which results in her death.
He later abandons his real name and comes to Wonderland in search for Alice. He meets the White Rabbit who, knowing that Alice's teacher will come to kill her, starts to bring in the fake Alice's to distract Lewis Carroll and hides his real name in "The Looking Glass Land."
In chapter 66, it is revealed that Lewis Carroll was in love with Alice's mother. However, her mother was so frail and sick that Lewis Carroll never made a move on her. Eventually she became the mistress of another man and gave birth to Alice Liddell who was born with the same weakness as her mother. When it is revealed that Alice has the same illness and is destined to die, Lewis Carroll becomes obsessed with the proper way to kill off Alice. Eventually, he shot Alice Liddell himself while in a state of madness.
Later in the story he retrieves his real name and once again attempts to destroy Wonderland.
Dubbed by Hirata Hiroaki in the CD Drama.
