Char Kyounagi (鏡凪 シャル)Char Kyounagi is a major supporting character in the manga series Kagurabachi and a central figure during the Vs. Sojo Arc. She is a young orphan living on the streets who has reportedly seen an enchanted blade. Initially introduced as a witness seeking sorcerer protection due to a pursuer she cannot afford to pay for, she claims her pursuer wields a formidable sword that might be an enchanted blade. Although Chihiro Rokuhira and Togo Shiba are initially skeptical, Chihiro learns more about her situation after treating her to soba. It is revealed that her pursuer, Norisaku Madoka, a sorcerer who caused an explosion at the soba restaurant, is acting on Genichi Sojo's orders. Sojo was pursuing Char due to her heritage as a member of the Kyonagi Clan. While initially distrusting of her, Chihiro and Char would develop a close bond as Chihiro protected Char from various sorcerers dispatched by Sojo. As he did so, Char would entrust Chihiro with her secret; her lineage as part of the Kyonagi clan. When Azami arrived Char was initially dismayed at the thought of being separated from Chihiro and was visibly overjoyed when she was told she could stay with him. In his battle against Sojo, Chihiro would later prioritize rescuing Char over battling Sojo, revealing how his protectiveness even overrides his need for revenge. He was devastated when he learnt Char had been taken by Sojo for five days after he woke up following the battle and was shaken at the realisation he had failed her. Even in captivity, Char never lost hope that Chihiro would come for her, her statement upon his arrival that he was late indicating she always believed he would save her. Char would later go on to heal Chihiro, a strong sign of trust on her part, before his final duel with Sojo.
