Kiwi is a netrunner and one of the main crew members of the series. A member of Maine's crew of mercenaries, Kiwi is an enigmatic and snarky netrunner with a detachable cybernetic jaw mask who acts as a mentor to Lucy.
Kiwi always told Lucy to "never trust a soul in Night City" as she also embodies this concept, even though she is caring and somewhat loyal to her friends and crew. Kiwi is aware of the dark, cold, manipulative, and false atmosphere of the Night City, and she is ready to do what it takes to survive under those circumstances.
Later on in the series, Kiwi becomes one of the major antagonists by teaming up with Faraday and selling out her crew.
Timeline
Kiwi joined Maine's Crew as a replacement for a former member named Sasha Yakovleva, who was also a netrunner.
During the Tanaka heist, Maine's cyberpsychosis causes him to lose his self-control and suddenly assault Kiwi as she tries to hack into Tanaka's cyberware, seriously injuring her.
When Lucy is hunting Arasaka agents to find the netrunners in the old web, Kiwi sets up a trap and helps Faraday catch Lucy.
In the following heist where David's Crew head on to the military convoy, Kiwi instigates David to equip the prototype Sandevistan, which was part of Faraday's plan. Kiwi flees the scene after David puts on the gear, revealing her true intentions.
After helping out Faraday, Kiwi starts to have second thoughts about working with Faraday and decides to cut ties with him. Faraday realizes this, and he has her killed as a loose end regarding the cyberskeleton. Before she dies, Kiwi tips off David and the others on Faraday and Lucy's location.
Legacy
It is unknown why Kiwi betrayed her crew. She was always known for her caring and down-to-earth character, but Kiwi also knew the importance of surviving in Night City. It is believed that the reason why Maine's Crew got defunct, the worsening state of David as he embodied a dead man's morals and goals, and Lucy's rogue life may have led Kiwi to flee the group in the sense of "leaving a sinking ship."
However, in the end, Kiwi realized that her actions were wrong and showed her true side by helping out David's crew to some extent.
