Togata is an avid film watcher whose film collection - and corresponding life’s purpose - burned up in a fire. After hearing about a mysterious man on fire, she decides to direct a film about him in an effort to retain some meaning in her life. She ends up accompanying Agni on his journey and helps him out in times of need.
Along with Neneto, Togata follows Agni around to record his own movie about Agni's revenge.
It is later revealed to Agni that Togata is actually a man. However, due to his ability to regenerate from any wound in an instant, he is unable to undergo the sex change he desires. He curses his own body everyday and hates the fact he’s forced to think of himself as a woman. He at one point states that he doesn't even remember his real self, as he has long since lost his mind.
He has lived for over 300 years.
He is aware of the true nature as to why the Earth is covered in ice.
He is obsessed with movies and views watching and creating movies as his only motivation to live.
He is very proficient in combat, going so far as to kill an entire train full of soldiers single-handedly.
He teaches Agni and Neneto a variety of vulgar English vocabulary.
When Agni falls into the frozen lake and makes no attempt to save himself, Togata jumps into the lake to save Agni. As a result, Togata comes into direct contact with Agni's undying flames. He recalls that the moment he became a man was while watching a movie protagonist save someone, and expresses his desire to do the same. By saving Agni, Togata finally achieves that rite of passage. He then becomes engulfed in Agni's flames and dies as a result, his regeneration blessing being inferior to Agni’s. When deciding what his final words to Agni would be, he chooses: "Live."
