A girl who often spends her days alone in the library was nicknamed "The Thorn Princess of The Library", due to her lack of socialisation and pure rudeness spouted on anyone, especially men, who approached her. She spends all of her spare time reading in the library. She is known for rejecting anyone who confesses to her on the spot with her cold gaze and harsh words. She has a fear of men. Anytime someone who is male is near her or touches her, she feels as if she's being pricked by a bunch of thorns. She wants to be able to get over this fear and to be able to love for once.
It is later revealed that the reason Aoi has a fear of men is due to past experiences of males in her life constantly lying and betraying her. Her father, who she no longer lived with due to him being in love with a woman who wasn't his wife, Aoi's mother and father separated. Her mother won custody over her and they continued to live together. Aoi encounters her father again after not seeing him for so long. He pulls her away, and as she struggles to escape him, he slaps her, leaving her shocked and distressed. Not long after, she tries to give a male classmate a book he expressed interest in borrowing from her to read. As this book was a gift to Aoi from her father, she didn't want to keep hold of it for some time. Due to his classmates making fun of him for potentially liking Aoi, he rudely states how he doesn't care nor like books in the first place. Her father lying about being kind, this classmate lying about caring, these two experiences traumatised her, leaving her with an extreme fear of all men.
