Kurumi is the more tomboyish member of the School Life Club, who never hesitates in fighting against the undead using the shovel she carries around with her at all times. Being remarkably calm in difficult situations, Kurumi takes care of the other girls and often acts as Yuuri's confidante.
On one of her expeditions into the school basement, Kurumi encounters the now-zombified Megu-nee, who was unconsciously wandering around the shelter room with supplies. Caught off guard, Kurumi is bitten by Megu-nee and almost dies, until the group finds an antidote at the same place and administers it. It is unknown to what extent the antidote cured Kurumi as she is noted to have "cold hands."
In the manga:
After the girls reach Saint Isidore University and join the Circle, Kurumi realizes she is slowly succumbing to the effects of the disease to the point of having violent impulses, being unable to concentrate for long, having low body temperature, and the undead themselves seemingly not perceiving her as living prey.
In Otayori:
Kurumi lives in an university hospital and, as a result of the damage inflicted by the disease, uses a wheelchair to get around. She is studying to become a doctor and confesses to having felt like a burden on everyone after she recovered.
