Fuji TV's noitaminA (ノイタミナ) late night programming block which currently broadcasts on Fridays from 00:45 to 1:45. Would the world have been a better place if religion doesn't exist? What right does religion have to decide what's good and bad? Are they really the guide to life? Deception can be scary. Is the world you live in really what you perceive? Do you believe in what you see or see what you believe? What is the truth and what is the lie? Is anyone benefiting from the lies and who is struggling from the truth? If everyone believes in a lie, does the lie become the truth? What happens if what you think is wrong has been the right one all along? Will you switch sides, or will you stay? Titles in which the characters are piloting flying devices (planes, brooms, etc) within the atmosphere. The characters being pilots is relevant to the plot, and during a big part of screen time there is action in the air. Very few stories can craft a setting that leaves a memorable impression, in fantasy fiction creators tend to fall back on safe and familiar settings which to me is always a missed opportunity in a story. These are anime that go above and beyond to envision and breathe life into unique and inspired worlds. A significant artistic effort is put into the locations, technology, vehicles, clothing, props, and architecture of these anime and have been masterfully crafted to facilitate these stories. Exhausted Studio Ghibli's filmography but want more? These anime have a visual presentation evocative of your favorite Ghibli films, but aren't made by Ghibli themselves. List of Anime with 11 Episodes or Less Some of these are questionable, like Suisei no Gargantia can be argued to be fully sci-fi, but there is a feel to it that makes me include it, along with organic and archaic elements that are woven together in a way that makes this appear more fantastical than your average sci-fi. Similarly, Gankutsuou is sci-fi with advanced technology, but it's futuristic imagery is conceptualized to cohere with the elegant 19th century setting of Dumas' novel. I'm also avoiding the inclusion of more than one entry per series, so if season 1 is on here, then season 2 likely fits just as much. Original sci-fi anime, one entry per series/franchise. |
