Both deal with the tragedies of natural disasters. Tokyo Magnitude 8.0 from the perspectives of a group of victims, while Rescue Wings shows a rescue helicopter pilot.

Same realistic take on a hard military job, this time through they eyes of a photographer instead of a rescue team member. A slice of life war drama this time quite similar. ^^

Even though Planetes is a futuristic anime of a space debris collectors and the setting is set to space, these two anime's have a certain same atmosphere. They are both real life drama centric and the characters, plot and surroundings are feeling really realistic. They both also deal with a new "rookie" trying to fit in a field that is very important but not necessary always respected.

While HisoMaso is obviously more fantastical than Rescue Wings, it is probably the next best depiction of life and characters within the JSDF.

Similar in realistic view of rescue forces. Both placed in Japan. Both having struggle in background of stunning rescue stories.

Anime about ambition and over coming challenges within career, same animation, atmosphere and type of characters could easily be in the same universe.

This one is a pretty realistic look at tragedy and disaster from the perspective of the helicopter pilots and rescue teams of the Japanese National Defense Force.

If you like seeing a realistic, competent, military force (in both cases, the JSDF) performing humanitarian operations using realistic equipment and procedures, then either of these anime have things you might enjoy.

Both anime's theme is rescue and both have similar overall military atmosphere

Both are themed around a more realistic militaristic theme about them and result in a much less fantastical plot lines. You also feel that both the protagonists are at a point in their lives where they are just realizing just what they are living for.
