The parameters for this list are as follows:
- Episode duration between 30 seconds and 14 minutes
- Episode count of 4 or more episodes total
- Standalone Series only (Sorry, Koyomimonogatari)
- First seasons stand for the whole franchise

Art house, in relation to cinema, is a genre of films that are intended to be serious artistic works rather than merely popular entertainment but the descriptor can also be applied to anime. Furthermore, avant-garde refers to innovative, experimental, radical or unorthodox concepts and techniques. This can of course also be used in reference to anime and manga.

As MAL currently sadly only allows a max of 50 entries on interests stacks this list mainly prioritises the stand out and most high quality examples of avant-garde and art house anime television shows, feature films, OVAs and short film compilations. Locomotion was a subscription television channel that broadcast various genres of adult animation 24 hours a day.

Its administrative headquarters and its broadcast center were located in Miami (United States) and, since mid-2003, the broadcast center was moved to Buenos Aires (Argentina).

What stood out the most from the programming was the massive inclusion of uncensored anime, several of these broadcast in the original language with subtitles for the first time in Latin America.

The channel was a space for the counterculture and the alternative young adult public of the time.
