I think they have similar themes and genres, and for the dish are also equally interesting and always different to make the series interesting, they have the vibe that I like, and I really enjoy watch both of them (sorry for the bad english)

Slice of life gourmet shows with girls that are in education eating good food. Biggest difference are their vibes and where they're in education where Maiko is a lot more quaint featuring girls learning to become Maiko whilst still enjoying yummy food whilst Hibimeshi is a fairly more active feeling show featuring girls in university forming the Food Culture Research Club enjoying good food too. Maiko is definitely more traditional Japanese in feel and has this somewhat heritage NHK-feel to it whereas Hibimeshi is more just the casual modern city-life of it and feels more in-tone with today's animes.
