This stack is dedicated to a variety of anime, the events of which either directly take place in a Victorian setting, or emulate it in one way or another through (dark) steampunk or romantic aesthetics and philosophy. I also included shows with significant inspiration from Victorian history or literature. Given the setting, most of these anime are pretty gothic and sophisticated, but that wasn't the end in itself.

This stack is intended for (relatively) old cult or nostalgic anime that have received a second wind and new relevance in our time thanks to remakes, reboots, new seasons or spin-offs. For ease of reference, I will credit new inclusions in franchises with the original source, rather than the other way around.

Adolescence is the most significant period of change in our lives, a fleeting yet intense stage where we begin to discover who we really are. It’s the moment when innocence starts to fade, and experience takes its place, shaping the identity and personality that will accompany us for the rest of our lives.

This collection brings together anime that capture the essence of growing up through real, relatable stories. These series dive into the emotional, social, and psychological struggles of adolescence and young adulthood, exploring themes like self-esteem, anxiety, loneliness, trauma, personal growth, first love, passion, and the search for purpose.

With powerful messages, life lessons, and moments of introspection, these stories reflect the beauty and complexity of coming of age, a journey of change that defines us and pushes us toward the future.

This stack is dedicated to Class S, a famous phenomenon in Japanese youth girl culture of the early 20th century and the literary genre it inspired. Cultivating caused by situational homosexuality and the closed, same-sex nature of education at that time, passionate homoerotic friendships between young girls in all-girls' schools and universities of the 1920s, Class S has had a huge influence on the formation of traditions of both friendship and lesbian media in Japanese culture in the 20th and then 21st centuries.

In particular, many of the tropes, trends, and mythology of Class directly inspired and became the prototype for the yuri genre, thanks to the huge popularity of the Class S "Maria-sama ga Miteru" LN series and its anime adaptation in the 00s. Because of this, the original "homoerotic passionate female friendship" nature of Class S has been somewhat diluted, and now literal or Class S-inspired shows can be completely platonic or ambiguously homoerotic, or even outright lesbian romance. Much depends on the premise and the intentions of the authors in each individual work. So, you can get both a de facto MariMite in a modern setting like Hibike! Euphonium, and a full-fledged romance emulating the Class S aesthetic like Strawberry Panic. Or even a yuri show directly parodying this concept like Watashi no Yuri wa Oshigoto desu.

Although Class has not existed in its classic form for many years, it continues to inspire Japanese girls' media both directly and through various influences.

Spring 2025 is getting closer, so I decided to make this list to celebrate this new season of anime adaptations.
The list is based on how much I am hyped for the series. so you may have your own ranking.
#1 - #6: You must watch them no matter what!
#7 - #11: they can be good like the first six, but there are somethings that may ruin this shows.
#12 - #14: they may be good but I will say that with a grain of salt since I am not sure!
#15 - #22: They have nice premise, that's why they are on the list so maybe they can be a banger or miss!

Anime that take place in real life, but in a region of the world uncommon for anime.

Generally, places outside of East Asia, Western Europe, and the US.

Might have sci-fi or fantasy elements, and might take place in the past/future, but the setting has to be a real country. No settings where it's based on a certain culture/country but is its own world, even if the inspiration is obvious (ex: Magi and the Middle East, Gosick and Southern Europe).

Also includes globe-trotting anime such as Lupin III, where episodes take place in different countries, some common and some not.
