Both are stories where a young girl is transported into a visually-stunning magical fantasy world and has to overcome various challenges before returning to the real world. Both reference youkai and folklore, where the main character must befriend and interact with them.

CG movie, both are very similar, a normal girl going on a weird fantasy-filled adventure that she'll never forget.

Both are 3D CG anime, but Oblivion Island is by far the better movie in every aspect, and stands as an example of how good these types of show could be with the right ingredients and some effort.

Both movies involve kids going to other worlds,, strange creatures, travelling on trains, and some of the most creative visuals in family anime.

Both are simply stunning in terms of their visuals, however Iblard Jikan doesn't really have much of a story to it.
