Note that some don't necessarily feat the whole description a "Hime Cut" is supposed to be, but they more or less have that aura on them that makes them a suitable match for the "Hime Cut"

The Hime Cut is a Japanese hairstyle consisting of straight, usually cheek-length sidelocks and frontal fringe. The rest of the hair is usually worn long and straightened. The style is thought to have originated, or at least become common, in the Imperial court during the Heian period (794–1185 CE) of Japanese history, when noble women would sometimes grow out their hair for their entire lives.

A 1970's idol, Megumi Asaoka, is known in Japan for popularizing the hime cut, which became her trademark

Anime with a female lead that centers around the pursuit or enjoyment of a particular hobby. Hobbies may overlap with work or careers. Usually these are CGDCT, Slice of Life, and/or Iyashikei but there are some exceptions. The main point is they have a passion for their hobby! WIP

Explicitly Cannon Couples and Hard Subtext Shows. Subtext shows listed here have substantial content and not just a little bit of teasing here and there. Subtext can also be an unspoken focal point of the series. These are shows I can actually recommend and like enough to suggest checking out.

-some popular shows in here simply worth mentioning because it would be criminal not to mention them.

These are shows that I predict will have lasting, material impact on anime as an art form after they are released in the calendar year of 2025. The following list is in season and then alphabetical order. It showcases ∼ 13 tv series / season.

A running stack, entries will be added when studios publicize official release dates.

If the date says ??? in the notes, it means the season & year of release has not been declared.

Expand each entry to see more information about the anime and why it's going to be important.

𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐬
This is part 3 of the ultimate music anime stack! I recommend reading the description in part 1. Part 2 is all about classic idol anime. This part contains titles that deal with music in various degrees, but also have something that deviates from regular musicianship — basically it's anime that do not fit in part 1 or 2.
Part 1 ➢ https://myanimelist.net/stacks/58200
Part 2 ➢ https://myanimelist.net/stacks/62820

The first half of part 3 features singers, music listening, karaoke, musicals, and school life, and is ordered roughly by score. The second half features sci-fi battles, dancers, and dance-related professions.

𝐒𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠
1–8. Movies
9–24. Series
25–36. Sci-fi*
37–44. Dance Anime
45–50. Other movement art, like figure skating and cheerleading

*Sub-sorted into Macross, action, and other (containing 4 titles each)

This stack is dedicated to Class S, a famous phenomenon in Japanese youth girl culture of the early 20th century and the literary genre it inspired. Cultivating caused by situational homosexuality and the closed, same-sex nature of education at that time, passionate homoerotic friendships between young girls in all-girls' schools and universities of the 1920s, Class S has had a huge influence on the formation of traditions of both friendship and lesbian media in Japanese culture in the 20th and then 21st centuries.

In particular, many of the tropes, trends, and mythology of Class directly inspired and became the prototype for the yuri genre, thanks to the huge popularity of the Class S "Maria-sama ga Miteru" LN series and its anime adaptation in the 00s. Because of this, the original "homoerotic passionate female friendship" nature of Class S has been somewhat diluted, and now literal or Class S-inspired shows can be completely platonic or ambiguously homoerotic, or even outright lesbian romance. Much depends on the premise and the intentions of the authors in each individual work. So, you can get both a de facto MariMite in a modern setting like Hibike! Euphonium, and a full-fledged romance emulating the Class S aesthetic like Strawberry Panic. Or even a yuri show directly parodying this concept like Watashi no Yuri wa Oshigoto desu.

Although Class has not existed in its classic form for many years, it continues to inspire Japanese girls' media both directly and through various influences.

Spring 2025 is getting closer, so I decided to make this list to celebrate this new season of anime adaptations.
The list is based on how much I am hyped for the series. so you may have your own ranking.
#1 - #6: You must watch them no matter what!
#7 - #11: they can be good like the first six, but there are somethings that may ruin this shows.
#12 - #14: they may be good but I will say that with a grain of salt since I am not sure!
#15 - #22: They have nice premise, that's why they are on the list so maybe they can be a banger or miss!

These aren’t your average music anime. They’re anime with music, sure, but not what you’d typically imagine. No soft brass to fill the void. No cutesy girl band to whisk you away into a sense of heartwarming comfort. No, these anime aim to get you to say “wow, this is sick!”

The criteria for this stack is simple. These anime have to have music (obviously), but they also have to have drama. Real stakes that aren’t commonly found in the genre. They’re mostly a blend of other genres in fact, with music remaining the focus.

While others may indeed have stakes, these anime are going to be more “rough around the edges.” Like if a Shonen anime happened to have music in it, this would be it. If the anime revolves solely around music, you won’t find it on this list.

I’m a sucker for music, and you might be too, so please enjoy this list!!!

This stack only includes non-sequel TV anime—no movies, OVAs, or continuing series here.

This isn’t a list based on MAL scores, popular opinion, or what the hive mind thinks is "objectively good." These picks are entirely my personal favorites, based on what I’ve actually watched and enjoyed this season.

The list is ranked by enjoyment—top = most enjoyed, and it goes down from there. That said, I still consider everything here worth checking out. Just because something is lower doesn’t mean it’s bad—it’s just a relative ranking of what clicked with me.

Also, for full transparency: the ranking isn't necessarily tied to the scores I've given each show. It’s purely about how much fun I had watching them.

One more thing: Spring 2025 has been a pretty rough season for anime overall. If you've got older shows sitting in your PTW, honestly, I'd recommend diving into those first. But if you're curious about what (new) stood out for me this season, here’s the list.

I’ll update this stack if I come across anything else this season that deserves a spot, or if anything here ends up becoming disappointing thus gets removed.
