Two slice of life's with adult casts that revolves around pets and an author overcoming the grief of losing family members, main difference being that Hizaue only has the MC's parents passing away whereas Kinokoinu has the MC's parents plus their dog passing away and that one has a cat whereas the other one has a dog. i would say that kinoku inu is how i imagine the manager of 'my new boss is goofy' would be like as an author. they are both slow paced slice of life animes where nothing really happens (in a good way). kinoko inu has less humour, but it still is really good!

The mc of Kinokoinu loves dogs as much as Warumono-san loves pandas! The vibe of both animes is calm and warm, and the animation/design is very colorful. Also, Hotaru kinda goes the same path as Warumono-san on learning how people interact with each other and how having friends is good. And, yes, there's the craziness of the plot "alien villain who loves pandas" >>>> "pink mushroom turns into a puppy", I see no diference 😂😂

both have very similar side characters. i think barakamon is faster paced and has more humour, but kinoku inu works better as a slower anime anyway. both have similar episode storylines. Also both are about the mc making friends and dealing with their past. both are great!
