Interest StacksThe Edo period (1603-1867) is a time in Japanese history characterized by economic growth, isolationist foreign policies, and popular enjoyment of arts and culture. The period derives its name from Edo (now Tokyo), where the shogunate was officially established by Tokugawa Ieyasu. Imagine you've just watched "Harakiri", or perhaps "Yojimbo", and now you're thinking to yourself: "I wonder how Samurai Cinema would translate into anime" - Next you're scrolling the anime database, and you've searched for anime with the theme "Samurai", only to be met with entries containing people spitting fireballs, and giant robots shooting lasers. Anime that come out in 2024, for which I'm hyped for and anime that sound interesting, with the date they premiere on. While 2022 and 2023 both gave us an outstanding amount of new and original anime, what will 2024 bring us? Fortunately I'm here to create a list of shows and movies that I believe will define this year for new anime. I have not read the sources for anything I'm listing, meaning no manga insights, light novel spoilers, or visual novel validations. Everything listed below is based on whether the entry synopsis, poster, or title intrigues me, or whether I know of something that has made me excited for this show. No isekai except if they might be good, weird, Movies or nsfw. all the anime that isn't is new and isn't a sequel |
