Anime that shows what it looks like to build a family outside your blood family (those you relate to by blood). Chosen family is an expansive term, to look past the rigidity of what hegemonic society deems as family, bonding, and care.

Recommendations for this stack are welcome!

Anime where you wouldn't expect, from the promotional image on MAL, that they may contain some heavy and intense stuff. Also, these anime are often lighthearted, comedic, or dramatic all while with psychological subtext.

An assorted stack of anime series that revolves around characters living in dorms or apartments. The hostel setting may or may not be the direct plot point of the anime.

For anime with sequels, only the first seasons of each have been included in the stack. The genres include (but are not limited to) Slice-of-Life, Comedy, Drama, Sports, and Romance.

Girls with big eyes and small brains...If you are in love with this art style then step no further than these animes that helped create and perfect it!

Oldish anime featuring characters that evoke the 萌え (moe) reaction as per the standards in the early-to-late 2000's, when the so-called moe phenomenon was at its peak in Japanese wota-culture. The anime I've listed here vary greatly in terms of genre, subject matter, and popularity, but they all hold the moe factor in common (in my opinion, anyways.) Some of the popular series have resurfaced here in the Western side in recent years as part of an internet-born aesthetic known most commonly as "animecore."
