Fuji TV's +Ultra late night programming block which broadcasts on Thursdays from 00:55 to 1:25. These are anime with unique settings and interesting world-building. Some of these are longer and have more time to flesh out the world-building, while others are shorter but very unique. It's not like every Seiyuu has just one acting style(!?), but in many cases, only a few become popular. Part 2 of my list of anime which are considerably low in typical tropes. Intriguing fictional worlds | post-apocalyptic world | world building | world's nature and laws/laws of nature. ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ List of Anime with 11 Episodes or Less A collection of fantasy or otherwise speculative fiction works including fanciful worldbuilding, without the utilization of the "Game mechanics verse" trope or the "Person from our world is reincarnated here" setup. (I would have said "no Isekai" but I'm open to stranger Isekai like Escaflowne being on the list). Earthlike worlds (including purported futures/histories) are allowed if they have something fanciful and distinctive. Only one entry per series/franchise. Some of these are questionable, like Suisei no Gargantia can be argued to be fully sci-fi, but there is a feel to it that makes me include it, along with organic and archaic elements that are woven together in a way that makes this appear more fantastical than your average sci-fi. Similarly, Gankutsuou is sci-fi with advanced technology, but it's futuristic imagery is conceptualized to cohere with the elegant 19th century setting of Dumas' novel. I'm also avoiding the inclusion of more than one entry per series, so if season 1 is on here, then season 2 likely fits just as much. CGI anime often gets overlooked because of how it looks. These anime defy the CGI is lazy stereotype by leaps and bounds. They feature a great story and good CGI. They may be "ocean worlds" or just involve shoreside locations (e.g. a seaside town); however, they all share a setting characterised by proximity to a marine environment. Naturally, each series has varying levels of emphasis on these nautical elements. |
