I came across this anime and tried to find some information on the internet before jumping into this. There was hardly any information about this anime but it had short episodes so I gave it a try.
Most sites that I watch anime on did not have this anime so I first had to search for another site to watch this one. My anime list says that this anime has 12 episodes but the site (and sites I later found) only had 10 episodes. I watched episode 11 on YouTube, wasn’t able to find episode 12.
I watched the episodes all in a short period
...
of time as each episode is around 4 minutes. Of the 4 minutes, around 1.30 minutes gets used only for intro and ending. So basically you’re just watching a animation of 2 minutes each. First site I watched this anime on did NOT have a prologue so I rewatched the anime on another site that did have the prologue, wishing that the other site just missed episodes. (Which it didn’t expect for the prologue aka episode 0). Watching the prologue and anime again didn’t make my confusion less. Tried reading the description of the anime over and over again but couldn’t make anything out of it, because the anime just simply did not follow the storyline written in the description. Instead it simply just followed a few chapters of the manhwa. So I ended up searching for the manhwa, which I found (and read) and has 121.5 chapters.
Basically the anime starts in chapter 10 of the manhwa, where you get to read the prologue (episode 0 if you would watch the anime). Shown in the prologue there is this guy (Seungtaek Park) crying in a car when he gets asked if he has ever liked a boy. Basically the episodes after the prologue so 1 up till 11 is a flashback of Seungtaek and a boy he was crying over. The anime mixed up badly here!! The boy who Seungtaek was crying over in the anime is called Seunghee Kim but in the manhwa the boy Seungtaek’s crying over is Kyubin Lee. Not really distracting when I didn’t know anything but got me pretty confused when I started reading the manhwa.
My advice: read the manhwa up till around episode 20 or so and then watch the anime. If you can’t wait that many chapter.. It would make more sense when you’ve read the chapters before the prologue (chap10). When you arrive at chapter 10; it depends on what you would prefer watching first, anime or manhwa. Everything might still make you confused if you read the manhwa first and then the anime, because the anime mixed up the names as I said.
Rating: 6/10
Because the anime is confusing if you don’t know the story. It’s still pleasant and okay to watch because the flashback is only about Seungtaek Park and Seunghee/Kyubin. So it shouldn’t really be confusing about who is who and what is going on. But it shouldn’t have been that way in the first place.
Art: 7/10.
To be honest I haven’t really given a good look at the art and surroundings as I mostly tried to find out what was happening, why and how they ended up at a scene. I don’t dislike the art style and it doesn’t distract me so it’s good enough for me. It’s a bit lazy though.
Soundtrack: 8/10
Intro and ending was catchy. It just matched and fitted. Like it wasn’t bad but it wasn’t that great either. Only listened to the intro and ending the first episode I watched and the other episodes I rushed through them so maybe that’s why they didn’t stood me by.
Character development:
3/10 in anime
Reason: it was 10 episodes of a flashback so basically you know nothing about them to tell if they had any development. Their feelings did change towards each other and you could see that in the anime.
10/10 in manhwa
Reason: of the 121 chapters around 60 chapters were of Seungtaek and Kyubin (or in anime Seunghee). So they definitely had the time to change, don’t really wanna say too much about it though.
Quick info about characters in the manhwa:
So Seungtaek Park is the class president (prep) he basically is a main character in the first 60 episodes of the manhwa.
All together with Kyubin Lee which is the guy that you will see in the flashback. He is also a main character in the first 60 episodes.
Seunghee Kim is the crossdressing boy who reads bl which is written in the description. In the anime he plays the role of Kyubin in the flashback. Still don’t know if they mixed up or just didn’t want to make 3 other (love) stories. Seunghee Kim is the main lead. Now explaining why he is the main lead with the title “someone else’s bl manhwa”. Looking from Seunghee perspective he is the one always intertwined with others (boys love) stories. Seunghee’s story will be told lastly.
Final thoughts:
I do not regret watching the anime, just wish I had known about what I’ve written above here earlier.
I liked that there weren’t really explicit scenes. Would like to point out (because I saw some comments on the site asking if they ever do something more) that this is not yaoi so if you want something more than just emotions, feelings, hugging and kissing.. this might not be it for you.
The manhwa is amazing by the way, had me screaming into my pillow sometimes, got me rethinking my choices in life and had me staying up till 4am which led me into getting trouble with my dad. Yeah totally worth it.
