New Interest Stack
Interest StacksThis list is dedicated to Pre-2000s anime that has a visually impactful animation, regardless of the year they release. The new anime release format that appeared in the mid-80s brought new opportunities for studios and various works began to be released on videotapes. Some of them were frankly terrible, but some became classics with a recognizable style and aesthetics. I bring to your attention works worth viewing. Some anime OVAs dating back to this time, with not many movies included. OVAs and movies that aired in Spain's TV channels (public or private), listed with the Spanish title. Might be missing some or be messy: I wanted to add the most important but also the less obvious. Get ready for Halloween with 30 nights worth of horror OVAs and movies that are guaranteed to deliver you spooks and scares. Kick back with your choice of inebriant or lack thereof and have some fun watching action heroes battle it out with all sorts of weapons, explosives, superpowers and machines. OVAs aren't usually very long so you don't even need to commit. You don't need to think too much and don't take it so seriously. These shows are all about having a good time and maybe some laughs along the way. I remember going to the video store, browsing the shelves, and picking out a movie based on the box art alone. I'd look at the front, I'd look at the back, and more often than not I'd put it back on the shelf. Occasionally there'd be something like Ghost in the Shell or Ninja Scroll, and I knew I just had to rent it, or more accurately get my parents to rent it. Anime present in Forgotten_VCR's mixtapes. Do you like watching trashy 80/90s OVAs and movies that are violent, stupid, and nonsensical? Well this list is for you. Some of these are pretty famous in the community like Violence Jack and M.D. Geist, but I made sure to really dumpster dive for some obscure trash for all of you garbage connoisseurs out there. perhaps you got bored of punches and wanna see fountain of blood along with limbs being torn off and thrown at you? Standalone Animes Movies & OVAs from the 80s & 90s that I want to watch. Before the likes of Saint Seiya, Dragon Ball Z and Pokemon conquering the kids in the west, it was actually Akira that opened the door and made people realize that the cartoons coming from Japan weren't what you would expect from Disney or your TV channels. Recommended for older viewers that want an alternative to shows and movies set at Anime High School. Casts in these anime are primarily over 18 and most are intended more for adult audiences, even if they're silly or light-hearted in nature. (Big obvious exception: Dragon Ball Z.) Every cinema or direct to video anime film that came out in 1988. |
