The Konnichiwa Festival is a Mexican distributor dedicated to distributing anime films, and sometimes Live Action, in theaters in Mexico and Latin America. It is a distributor that I really like and, whenever I have the opportunity, I take the time to go see the films that they distribute in theaters. Sometimes they dub their films into Latin Spanish, but most of the time they are shown with subtitles, unless they are very accessible films (Your Name, A Silent Voice, Demon Slayer: Mugen Train, Mirai).

A compilation of anime that began airing during the month of February.

This Month is most notable for airing the original Dragon Ball, Naruto: Shippuuden and the directorial debut of Satoshi Kon with Perfect Blue (premiered in August, but MAL logs it's theatrical February release so I'm keeping it here lol).

GKIDS is an American film distributor based in New York with, according to the Los Angeles Times, a focus on "sophisticated, indie" animation. GKIDS releases critically acclaimed mostly hand-drawn, international films—such as the works of the independent Japanese anime studio Studio Ghibli—to North American audiences. GKIDS also distributes computer animated and stop-motion films in addition to hand-drawn ones, as well as American films by independent filmmakers. The name is said to be an acronym for "Guerrilla Kids International Distribution Syndicate".

In this list are those anime that have been distributed by the distributor GKIDS.

A list of anime movies that are both appropriate to watch with your parents, and that they would probably enjoy!

I have watched a lot of these with my parents to at least moderate success!

Not including Ghibli movies because all of them would be on this list otherwise.

Winter is a time of decay, before the coming rebirth in spring. Thus, this anime list honors the natural cycles of seasons on a human level. In winter, our inner spirits desire to purge all that is no longer needed, from the last year. Whether we, our egos, want to or not, is another story. These anime can help facilitate the process. How ? By posing death in a graceful manner, giving it purpose, almost.

Sometimes to ease some forms of blues, such as winter blues, we must honor the decay by exposing ourselves to dark and sad artworks in anime, music, pictures... in order to aid a natural spiritual shadow process for the season... instead of ignoring and repressing it, trying to "fight" it.

You would listen to rage metal or sad and slow songs after a breakup, right? Then it makes sense to listen to and watch dark stuff during a seasonal time of spiritual decay/purging when our psyche's are throwing out all that doesnt serve us from the past year(s).

Why not watch dark(er) stuff during winter time when the very environment is undergoing a death process, and so are many relationships as is natural during holiday time when family friends and relatives who dislike eachother clash.

Many of these anime are dark and or sad; and represent and depict decay, in abstract ways- or life in dark ways. Yet it is in most cases a cozy format fitting for winter. You could call it Dark Iyashikei. But to be fair, the majority of Japanese anime take their swing at portraying death or decay in some way in one or two episodes. These anime just stuck out for me how they did so as more of a main focus. A sort of grace. Some showing how decay is a step in a larger process of eventually transformation or rebirth.

This list is not an average holiday theme list for your young offspring or family time, but it actually could be if you're creative with it.

Shout! Factory, LLC, trading as Shout! Studios (formerly known as Shout! Factory) is an American home video and music distributor founded in 2002 as Retropolis Entertainment. Its video releases, issued in DVD or Blu-ray format, include previously released feature films, classic and contemporary television series, animation, live music, and comedy specials. Considered a boutique Blu-ray label, Shout! Studios, in addition to its mainline home video releases, also releases films under the sublabels Scream Factory (for horror film releases), Shout! Select, and Shout! Kids.

In its anime catalog, it has interesting titles that could be seen and enjoyed by anyone, although most of them are films distributed by GKIDS.

Comprehensive list of standalone movies from this year. Not a recommendation list.

I got tired of sorting through the infinite tide of throwaway franchise movies and Detective Conans trying to find movies I missed.

Mostly Japanese movies only, though Korean and Chinese animation drawing heavily from anime genres might also be considered.

Movies not yet available in English at the time of this writing will be commented as such.

Length must be at least 60 minutes.
