Two OVAs from the early 1990s where the main plot device is a suddenly appearing non-human, but human looking, girl. Obviously, the surprised male lead falls in love with her. And by the end of the short (5/6 episodes) series, the mood shifts from comedy to drama. The series even straight lift specific elements from each other (looking at you, girl crawling out of a TV). In terms of differences, Video Girl AI is more slapstick-based and has a more involved plot. Aa! Megami-sama has the better production quality.

There is a bit of an age difference, but they start with the male MC being presented with a wish by a goddess. If you've seen one then you know what he chooses. They both then turn into a kind of harem anime but Konosuba is more perverted.

I think these two anime are very similar because they are both romances that seem somewhat doomed. In many ways I would say that Violet Evergarden is the more grown-up story, but if you enjoyed Aa! Megami-sama!, I think you will definitely enjoy Violet Evergarden.

Both shows are 90's harems, but Aa! Megumi-sama is a little more subtle about what it's trying to be. While Tenchi is more upfront and obvious about being a harem, Megumi-sama's main character by the end of episode one is already in a relationship. This goes against Tenchi's "Anyone could hook up with Tenchi and it's completely up in the air." Both shows have multiple women living under the same roof with a young man, and the girls are associated with aliens or have some kind of supernatural abilities.

Both of these titles have similar characters and story, but totally different atmosphere — this contrast creates a comic effect.

Same animes, I mean hose both are harems, both are eech, both are funny. If you like watching a funny romance plot with interesting characters, then this is a must-watch

Both series belong to the older generation of romance movies. I think the artwork/tone/pace have some semblances.

To say that Ah! My Goddess and Ai Yori Aoshi have similarities is more than likely a light reference to the fact that they could be twins. It's true that Ai Yori Aoshi doesn't have magical powers involved; however, focusing more on the roots of harem type of shows. One of the key factors shared in both shows is a meeting between the two main couples when at a young age before they found true love. If anything, both are intense romances to the core with light humor sprinkled here and there. It's true there is a bit more development in the male lead in  read more
