Sonny Boy

Thirty-six students find themselves and their school building suddenly adrift in a void-like dimension. When supernatural powers awaken in some of them, a sense of detachment begins to divide the group. Despite the student council's attempts to impose order, they clash with the students possessing special abilities, who rebel against their strict control.

This conflict leads them to discover that this world has its own set of rules—and following them is necessary for survival. After one of the students decides to take a leap of faith, the school switches dimensions once again. While they deal with the unique challenges and circumstances that each world presents, the students must unravel the mysterious phenomenon and find a way back home.

Simply wonderful art and sound design, the story is also beautiful in showing the growth of the characters in all its subtle ways, may it seem complicated but in reality its a really simple anime, that illustrate the passing of age from adolescence to adulthood.
The way the characters are portrayed, mainly the trio Mizuho, Nagara and Nozomi, is something that can only be described as the embodiement of the typical back of classroom friend group, where Nagara and Mizuho stand as "rejects" but not at all, and Nozomi acts as the guiding light that shows them the paths out of the worlds.

Mixed Feelings

Here's what I will say if someone asked me what was Sonny Boy,

Watching Sonny Boy was like walking through an art gallery where half the pieces make you pause and think, while the other half leave you scratching your head. It's abstract and unapologetically strange, like a fever dream.

The story drops you into a group of students lost in a dimension, then a new world; after that, it will tingle everything you know about the science of alternate dimensions, quantum possibilities, and the subjective nature of reality. It delves into concepts like the breakdown of physical laws, the influence of individual perception on existence, and ... the interplay of cause and effect in multiversal settings yeah fuck.

Some characters make an impact; others feel like whispers in the wind there hard to hold on to. And that's fine, because the focus isn't always on them but on "the ideas floating around them." (the cats were perfect.)

The visuals? Bold and experimental, matching the unsteady tone of the narrative, plus pretty to look at. The soundtrack? Perfectly aligned with the mood, sometimes calming, sometimes unsettling, the ending song 🤌 (episodes 10, 11 and 12 those fuckers didn't translate 4 songs, had to go to YouTube 😮‍💨).

But the real star is the concept: a story that doesn’t spoon-feed answers. It challenges you to decide what it means, if it means anything at all.

At times, I found myself overthinking, wondering if there was some hidden thread I missed. Maybe there was. Maybe there wasn’t. That’s Sonny Boy for you. It’s the kind of show that leaves gaps for you to fill—or ignore—depending on how much you want to engage. (I had enough headaches.)

It’s not for everyone, and it’s not flawless, but it’s something I appreciated. Like abstract art, it’s there to be experienced, not explained. For me, it was a fascinating, if slightly overwhelming, watch.

The worst anime I have ever seen in my life. The anime never had coherence, the events are a joke in very bad taste.
At the end of the anime I felt sad, frustrated. They played with my feelings throughout the anime, until you see that ending.
an anime, disturbing and dull and meaningless, left me with a very, very bad taste. If possible I would give it a 0 rating, I doubt that another anime can dethrone this piece of .....

It doesn't make any sense at all. unforgivable, unforgivable
I find it difficult to write this, using soft words and terms. since it would deserve the ... harshest terms but anyway.
