New Interest Stack
Interest StacksAfter watching just about all of the OVAs released in the 1980s, I rated (or plan to rate) all of these OVAs a 7 or above and consider them to be the best of the bunch. The new anime release format that appeared in the mid-80s brought new opportunities for studios and various works began to be released on videotapes. Some of them were frankly terrible, but some became classics with a recognizable style and aesthetics. I bring to your attention works worth viewing. Agh!! Everyone's in emotional and/or physical anguish! These shows end on a mostly bad note, so beware. I mean, if you need a bewaring. I'm guessing not. Spoilers, if that wasn't already apparent. Surreal anime that have an upbeat tone! AnimeChallengeby
MyAnimeList
Anime reminiscent of summer with supernatural elements. This list includes arthouse (gonna strech this term in this list) that are have multiple episodes that from one story, so compilations like Neo Tokyo or Genius Party will not be in here. Featuring little to no dialogue and/or characters and the experience is carried by the music and/or visual atmosphere. These are the best works anime can offer. The criteria this time is no criteria. This is the final list in my Obscurities series. If there is any criteria, it's that I think you should watch these despite their quality, popularity, or even my rating, because you should see 'em. There's some good, some bad, and some real head-scratchers in here. It's mixed bag time in here! Anime that are heavily overlooked on MAL (at the time of writing, under 20k members). Most, if not all of them are also underrated. Will likely add stuff in the future as I watch them. Mamoru Oshii is a popular creator and has been involved in several anime in both major and minor roles. Anime with blatant product placement. As the title says, I created a stack called "Avant Garde and the Weirdest Box", and some weird Anime was not listed in it, so they will be listed here. Of course, there will also be Avant Garde anime that are not popular or not known by many people. |
