New Interest Stack
Interest StacksThis is a part of a series of stacks that are about artistic tendencies in anime (and that border the fine line between sophisticated and pretentious). Anime aired in Spain's TV channels (public or private), listed with the Spanish title. Might be missing some or be messy: I wanted to add the most important but also the less obvious. Excluding most sequels & movies. I remember going to the video store, browsing the shelves, and picking out a movie based on the box art alone. I'd look at the front, I'd look at the back, and more often than not I'd put it back on the shelf. Occasionally there'd be something like Ghost in the Shell or Ninja Scroll, and I knew I just had to rent it, or more accurately get my parents to rent it. This is a list of anime with the sci-fi/fantasy theme of cosmic horror. It commonly features monstrous beings or great leviathans. It's sometimes complimented by biopunk, a sci-fi genre about the use of biotechnology. Anime with the setting of the tragic world wars that occurred last centuries, Anime that are either set around in World war or are inspired by it. Around the late 90s and early 2000s (the "Y2K Era", if you will), art style trends included a softer and more realistic look characterized by rounded, prominent noses and smaller eyes. These style trends were often found in darker, more adult anime, though some lighter-hearted productions could fall under the "Y2K Art Style" label as well. They just don't make anime that look like this anymore! For a good shot of adrenaline to the retinas Every cinema or direct to video anime film that came out in 1998. A mix of 80's & 90's ova series that I have seen. Some of the best that classic animation has to offer. I left out some obvious picks since you already know how good something like Akira or Princess Mononoke looks. |
