Although each is different in how the "doctor" "treats" and some other aspects, both focus on wandering doctors with episodic stories about various spirits.

Both MC's meet Spirits and the People involved with them. They listen to the Stories, then try to help them with the problems that arise from Humans and Spirits meeting. Not all encounters are Happy outcomes, but both are Great to watch.

There are similarities in the story structure and topics, though there are also substantial differences. It shows you the story behind the suffering of different yokai each arc, and this is handled by the mysterious powerful MC. But the tone of Mononoke is a lot more horrifying, and Bai Yao Pu is a lot more humane in that MC generally cures the yaoguai instead of vanquishing them like Mononoke. Nevertheless, in both the focus is on the yokai/yaoguai themselves rather than on the MC, and you get to see the story of how they came to be that way. If you like the concept of Mononoke  read more

Chinese folklore, ghosts and cultivation, good plot, good characters, great female characters, comedy with dark and horror vibes, not much action, more like drama, no love plot, but many romantic stories of the past.

The main characters look into the lives of new side characters of the week, and by unraveling the tensions in their life we understand what it is to be human.

Both of these works follow a very similar plot and story structure and MC. The world is full of yokai who mostly persist hidden from the eye of humans, despite interacting with them. In both, the MC is a renowned expert and is summoned by yokai to solve problems occurring in between the world of yokai and humans. The MC is a rude woman with powerful intelligence and is able to investigate and solve the issue with ease. The tone is somewhat different in either case. Kyokou Suiri focuses more on the sleuthing part, sort of a Sherlock Holmes type story, while Bai Yao Pu focuses  read more

Both have great main characters who travel to solve problems Animation, sound, story, and character's personalities are all great!

There is a main character who has the skills and contacts to help deamons/faries/supernatural creatures. It's episodic in nature, slowly (like pulling teeth) giving you backstory on them. You barely get any backstory, especially in Bai Yao Pu. These shows are mainly similar because of the variety of magical creatures living their own complicated lives while our main characters kind of try to help them.

Both have some kind of ''unnatural power'', one in the cultivation world the other one is a doctor for ghosts; They are both funny and greatly made
