For the inner masochist in you! The 40 lowest rated, completed, full-length anime on MAL of at least 10+ episodes, updated at the end of every season. Minarai Dive is considered a + because of it's borderline anime status and odd length episodes, and Dimension high School is a + for being partially not anime.

Animes set in desert or isolated areas

Except from "Onyx Equinox", "Freakangels" and "High Guardian Spice" that even being produced and licenced by crunchyroll, are not considered animes by myanimelist for being 'primarily an American production and not targeted at the Japanese market'.

If you are likely to watch an anime specifically because it predominantly features swords, blades, katanas, scimitars, or claymores in it, then this is the list for you!

Looking for some of the funniest trashy and bad anime? Are you constantly digging up bad anime just to end up being bored by how bad it is, rather than laugh at how ironically fun it is? You've come to the right place!

I've only put in anime that made me ironically laugh while I watched it. There's anime such as Ex-Arm that were funny at first, but they also became a pain to watch as the series progresses. I still included it as the first few episodes are unintentionally hilarious. The list is organized from highest to lowest MAL average just to show how it gradually gets worse in quality.

Also, please DM me suggestions to add to this list too, if you have some! Tsui no Sora is excluded for being an h-anime, but it meets the criteria elsewise.

The YouTube channel Mother's Basement has released a number of "Worst Anime of <year>" videos wherein the host roasts (and often demolishes) the worst anime of the subject year. This interest stack is a compilation of those anime from the years 2018 thru 2022.

As formatting and links are frowned upon in interest stacks, you can find the actual review videos in my corresponding blog post. You can also just search YouTube.

Shows are listed in historical order. The year is noted and if appropriate or helpful or amusing, one or more selected quotes from the review are included as well. [I will also interject when the need/desire arises. -ed.]

2018 through 2021 are presented as a list of five worst of the year 1 (worst) > 5 (least worst)

2022 is presented as an "awards" show - not the kind of award to hope for.

I only use these reviews to help eliminate, or at least decrease the priority of, shows on my watchlist. Sadly, I'd already watched a number of these shows before I saw the reviews. I offer this stack in the hopes that some of you may spend more time watching entertaining shows by avoiding some real stinkers. Or if you enjoyed some of these, more power to you.

Anime with bugs that are big or bug-like creatures that are also big.


Things to note:
🐛 We will be using a very liberal definition of "bug" here, assuming it as interchangeable with "insect," or even with "creepy-crawly" in general. It then follows that "bug-like" can mean "similar to an insect."
🐛 We will also be using a liberal definition of "big," where we count the anime as long as the bug-like creature is big for a bug, regardless of whether it is an actual bug or just a bug-like creature. If the shark is acting like a bug, it counts as big even if it stays within the normal size range for a shark.
🐛 Some of these entries toe the line or straight up do not have bugs (see the shark example), but are here because they manage to keep the spirit of big bug-like creatures. If it creeps like a bug and crawls like a bug, we will be counting it as a bug(-like creature). Specifications in the notes.

Lowest rated anime that are not based on anything, so it cannot be blamed to a bad adaptation.


The requisites is at least 6 episodes, and standard episode length minimum (20 minutes).
