Kitsutsuki Tanteidokoro

Both stories centre around two men solving mysteries.  

Both have a similar feel of mystery solving on a traditional japanese setting, and a quirky character as male lead. Both series have beautiful art and animation showing japanese architecture and culture, in different time periods though! Both anime follows the story of a male character trying to solve mysteries, one through a detective agency, the other via an antique shop expertise. Holmes of Kyoto is more light-hearted but definitely recommend it.

If you answered "yes" to any of the questions above, then either (or both) of these shows might be just perfect for you. 

Relationship building between the main characters, is done in a similar and appealing manner. The setting of both anime is when the western influence has rooted itself deep enough to add to the mood, but not the atmosphere of the series. Both series are very powerful in terms of emotions and compelling when it comes to plot development. However when this anime shines its brightest, is with its "character".
