Even though Capeta starts off younger than Ippo does, the stories have a very similar feel to them. They both have a blue-collar/Rocky-esque vibe to them where the main characters have to overcome financial and mental obstacles to succeed in their chosen sports (go karting and boxing). So if you liked Capeta, I think you'd like Hajime no Ippo too!

Capeta has a younger feel to it than Initial D, but both are your competitive/sports animes about racing. Capeta drives a go cart and Takumi is a street racer, but they have similar themes about skill vs equipment and the meld of man and machine. The main difference is probably attitude: Capeta has a blue collar, constant struggle feel to it (like Hajime no Ippo) and Initial D is much more of a diamond waiting to be polished (like Major).

Aside from focusing on F1 cars and competition, they are also similar for aesthetics (Capeta is more recent but has a vintage look). Both are underdog sports stories in which the bond between a fiery teenage boy and his father plays an important part.

Both shows start out with bright eyed youths and show how they become masters of their chosen sport. Both shows have a progression through years (and years!) of work instead of seasons and cover a large chunk of a character's lifespan.

Both main characters have an age progression in the series. Both of them don't have a mom. They are pursuing their dream even though they are poor. The father work so that he can get money for the main character.

They both start when they are kids and gradually improves in what they do. Only difference is that Musashi no Ken is about kendo and Capeta is about cart racing.

Both are about racing, though one is on a cart and the other is on a boat. same feelings and atmosphere. Also, they go up levels each time they improve in the sport they do.

Capeta is similar because both of them are based on racing in some sort of machine etc. Also the main characters won in their first race and became famous and professional in only 3 to 4 years, plus the fact that they both have very good instincts in what they do. The team Capeta is in, is slightly the same to Hayato's team as well except for the fact Team Capeta, Capeta's Team doesn't have much money.

Capeta is not about cycling, but about F1 racing. But the feels and the atmosphere are the same, if not even better. Its about a boy who comes from a poor family whose dream is to become an F1 driver someday. The different stages of hardship he goes through will probably belittle what Onoda-kun went through in Yowamushi. Needless to say Capeta is much more of a serious and realistic anime. It even has its share of emotional scenes that will increase your attachment to the protagonist. If you liked Yowamushi then there is no doubt you will love Capeta. Enjoy.

I found that both anime were very fun to watch. Although Capeta is an autoracing anime, it reminds me if Overdrive. Both of the main characters grow in their profession as the anime progresses overcoming their personal shortcomings. I was captivated to throughout the entire series in both animes.

Both plots revolve around racing competitions, although in IGPX is futuristic while Capeta is more in the present. In Capeta, there is more of a Hikaru No Go type rivalry going on with the main character than with IGPX, which was to me more a struggle with sudden popularity.

While Major revolves around Baseball, Capeta's about racing. Despite being sports, the essence of both stories are about a boy who struggles through all hardships chasing their dreams. Its another heart warming, motivating series worth watching. Capeta, left with a widowed father had forced himself to be self reliant from young. Surviving poverty, Capeta has given up on indulgence in every way he could. What he just couldn't give up, was his desire to race. Even when he knew that racing was not a sport for the impoverished. With no money, no sponsor, Capeta fought the odds supported by his friends and fueled by the desire to  read more

Both main characters has a special ability or a passion for a certain sport and they go through hardships to achieve their goals. Capeta is more serious.

If you like sports anime capeta is very similar to major as it focus on one guy ( Capeta) and his will to become the best driver in the world.

Both series share wholesome growing up stories, characters start out younger but time progresses and you can follow along their progress. Both series have competitive elements in their particular field, being it Go or Racing. I was happy to find Capeta because I really wanted to see anime similar to Hikaru no Go and it was a nice find.

Both are sports animes and talk about a young boy who wants to be a great sportsman (Capeta in racing, Tsubasa in Soccer), but have great difficulties to achieve his dream. Also, character design are much alike.

While one anime is about space travel and the other about racing, they have very similar elements that you might be looking for! Working your way to your goal. Not everything always goes as planned. Both main characters are excellent at figuring things out. The importance of people who back you up (the engineers in both series). In both series you take the journey with the characters and see how they progress in a difficult field.
