both are isekai where the MC is transported to a new world in their MMORPG character body both are extremely overpowered one is an undead and the other a demon lord although avatar/ new body look human both help out a struggling village difference Overlord is a far darker anime and the MC very morally gray/ anti-hero in a way

Both have overpowered main characters who are sort of anti-heroes Both are Isekai where game expert is transferred to game world. Both have sadistic women side-kick No.2 female heroes who swoon over their Chief.😅 But Maou-sama is a milder and merrier version of Overlord with some good story.  

Isekai's which center around an MC that although outward appearance resembles a dangerous looking man, on the inside they are very caring for others. Both cases as well the MC has to put on an 'act' to keep up outwardly appearances  

both are isekai anime with the MCs being summoned or otherwise magically transported to their new world both anime have gaming elements with the MCs being transformed into their MMORPG characters although Demon lord retry more so than How not to summon a demon lord but their player stats and abilities have transferred over to the new world both MC are demon lords one a true demon lord and the other a demon race that a self proclaimed demon lord with the skills, equipment and levels to back up the claim both anime are harems with both human and demi-human female suitors it should be noted that Demon Lord retry has a few young female member that are more like daughters to the MC Difference How not to summon a demon lord the MC as social anxiety so he uses his character persona to deal with being thrown into this new world and force out of his neet life in Demon lord retry the MC uses his game persona as a means to an end another difference is how the MC live in the new world in Demon lord retry the MC quickly "befriends" powerful people in the new world and has easy ways to make money but in How not to summon a demon lord the MC live as a more regular adventurer and money tight  read more 

Both have that isekai themed anime where the MC was transported into another world as a all powerful demon lord, that doesn't act like one.  

The mc gets trapped into a world as an OP Demon Lord which does not fit their irl character, and meets a girl/girls with a problem and helps them out.  

They Both have the premise of a "Demon Lord" being summoned to another world. On one hand, In Isekai Maou, the Demon Lord Diablo Fights progressively stronger foes all while building a cliche fantasy Harem whereas in Maou-sama the Demon Lord "Maou-sama" builds a nice spa resort along with his less cliche fantasy Harem. Either way, recommend watching both these anime. they are a great watching experience if you love Isekai anime like I do. 

the same anime that has that isekai theme and the same MC whom were bad-asses, except, in one anime, the MC there didn't become a bad ass until later on.....and both were aired in the same season.

Dissimilarities: Maou-sama, Retary: - Character there was more like a builder, than a conqueror. -MC's harem, were compost of one loli and one teen age maou shoujo who wasn't doing well in her estate. - MC has another sub character who was a kick ass fighter than a magic user. - MC reincarnated from the real world into a virtual world. Maou-Gakuen no Futekigousha: -MC there reincarnated him self by choice from the past to the future, cu'z he's bore after defeating the gods. -MC's harem compose of one classmate and one girl whom were both magic users. -MC is more like an antagonist who wants to conquer his already weaken descendants after a 100 years of absence.  read more 

Both seem like generic isekai battle fantasies, but both include the combat as a side focus rather than a main one (i.e., the central focus of both are not combat/action related).
