The Tokyo Anime Awards started in 2002, but was named in 2005. The first, second and third award ceremonies were simply named 'Competition'. The award ceremonies were held at the Tokyo International Anime Fair (TAF) until 2013. In 2014, after the merger of the Tokyo International Anime Fair with the Anime Contents Expo and the formation of the AnimeJapan convention, the Tokyo Anime Awards was changed into a separate festival called Tokyo Anime Awards Festival (TAAF). These anime have bizarrely unique, wildly niche, or oddly specific concepts. From sentient clothes, to vampires in space, to undead idols, some of these anime may leave you wondering, "who even came up with this idea?..." anime that have solid female friendship, some aren't part of main theme of the show, but wholesome nonetheless List of anime featuring at least one LGBT+ character that aren't BL or GL. I try to only put those that are either confirmed canon (in story or by the author) or so explicitly implied that there's little to none other interpretation. This is a list of shows where 'Monster Girls' & Animal Girls play a central part to the story. Anime that stray from the typical otaku tropes (female fanservice, overly moe girls, performative yuri, harems etc). Anime with a strong focus on non-romantic female friendships either as the main plot or between secondary characters. This is a part of a series of stacks that are about artistic tendencies in anime (and that border the fine line between sophisticated and pretentious). I think the idol genre is one of the most underrated genres out there in anime. This are some series that I'll recommend to those people who want to jump into the genre Thrown together for personal reference; does not include shows that I cannot vet the content of due to having no experience watching, and the quality of shows listed is irrelevant. Kansai-ben, Touhoku-ben, Hokkaido-ben, ... Japan is rich with their dialects, accents and expressions. I find certain charms to these and will try to maintain this stack adding animes involving some of these dialects. If you are in search of an anime featuring a lively female cast that promises an entertaining watch, then this is the perfect choice for you guys. :) Each of the following are one of the most popular anime set in or heavily inspired by an associated Japanese prefecture. They are ordered from Hokkaido to Okinawa (roughly north to south). "Idol" as an anime genre is closely related to the CGDCT genre as well as bishounen anime, although this list only focuses on female idols. There are many different ways of making an idol anime and they can lead to varying results. Some idol anime like to offer you a lot of cute girls without having any ability to properly show you who they are, like Tokyo 7th Sisters, some prefer to focus on a smaller cast while might not deliver the proper idol experience you might expect, but have deeper characters as a result. A large portion rely on 3DCGI for the dance sequences, which make hand animated dances a treat. I've selected a couple shows from the genre that I personally think did the best job all around. |
