MyAnimeList
Films that were nominated for the Best Animation of the Year prize given by the Japan Academy Film Prize Association, first awarded in 2007. All five nominees are awarded the Excellent Animation of the Year (優秀アニメーション作品) by the association. ┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈ This stack is a collection of anime that are either set during summer or convey summer vibes (for example are set in a place next to the ocean). This list contains all movies that aren't related with any anime series. What I look for the most in an anime above everything else is high-quality writing. That's not to say that manga, visual novel, and light novel adaptations are written poorly; in fact, there are some that have incredible, masterfully-crafted storylines. I have simply personally found that some of the most unforgettable series for me have been novel adaptations. The "Scotland Loves Anime" film festival takes place annually in Glasgow and Edinburgh. It was started in 2010 and includes the "Golden Partridge" jury award and audience-voted awards. Everyone knows Studio Ghibli's amazing work, but what about the other studios? This is a part of a series of stacks that are about artistic tendencies in anime (and that border the fine line between sophisticated and pretentious). Coming-of-age stories are about characters growing into the next stage of their lives, from adolescence into adulthood. Magical realism involves the inclusion of fantasy elements in stories that otherwise take place within the real world, normalizing them as part of the world even if not everyone can see it. I believe that these subgenres beautifully compliment each other, and I have an affinity for stories that do this. The addition of fantastical elements into a realistic setting emphasizes the mundanity of our lives, and the addition of magical whimsy can highlight the beauty within our mundane lives, and create a heightened sense of beauty and atmosphere to scenes, or emphasize the sense of the mysterious unknown that comes with growing up. Fantasy can sometimes serve as a parallel to things that exist in our lives, and in other cases, the fantasy can be something we need to leave behind as we grow up. Regardless of how or why it's incorporated, I find it to be a wonderful combination, so I'm going to highlight some anime coming-of-age stories with magical realism that I enjoy. The first season of any show listed will count for the entire series. Exhausted Studio Ghibli's filmography but want more? These anime have a visual presentation evocative of your favorite Ghibli films, but aren't made by Ghibli themselves. ChallengeAnimeby
MyAnimeList
Anime reminiscent of summer with supernatural elements. This is a list of non-Ghibli standalone movies - meaning they are not associated with a TV series Anime with visually appealing and unique art style and animation that make them stand out as "eye candy." Their vibrant and colorful aesthetics are just as charming as actual sweets too! Anime movies that are not followed by any a seasonal anime, there's just the movie. |
