The Pretty and Aikatsu franchises has been rivals for years - both feature sparkly cute middle school idols who for groups and face rivals - and these two are no exception. Aikatsu Friends and Kiratto Prichan were announced and released within weeks of each other. Both follow pairs of friends competing with other friends for a place at the top of the idol food chain. Pure Pallete of Friends are much more wholesome, with great characters and a much more professional view of idol life. Kiratto's Miracle Kiratts rely heavily on slapstick humor, and take a lighthearted approach to idol life.

Both Aikatsu and Pretty Rhythm (the main series of waccha primagi) often have a lot of similarities, so if you like one it's quite likely you'll like both. Both have wholesome idol dynamics, magic elements, cute girls and CGI performance with the music actually being sang by the voice actor of the character (something that doesn't happen in every idol anime where sometimes seiyuu and singer are two different people). This makes it feel more realistic and close to the actual jpop scene (some people are against this so ymmv). Both also have a focus on duo performances and the idea of a best friend/partner

Both shows are about adorable idol girl units, attempting to become #1. Laala and Aine are very similar protagonists, both being very outgoing, both love making friends and helping others. Both have various idol units that compete. Both are based on arcade games with cards. Both include idol dress cards that are collected on the show and in real ife, as well as transformation sequences. Pripara is a lot more dramatic and over the top, while Aikatsu Friends is more laid back with relatable moments.

If you're wanting a duo of fun, loud, music-loving girls with a good dose of family friendly comedy, then either of the series will appeal! Both teams work hard to achieve their goals and make heir dreams come true. Their backup cast are very different, but equally fun and unique. Suite is clearly in the Magical Girl genre, as they fight evil and protect people, while Aikatsu is an idol, with no genuine magic, just special effects and work.

While one focuses on references and parody and the other is an idol show, both have a similar chill slice of life feel to them with no drama. Characters are cute as you watch them go about their daily lives.
