Interested in the genre? Despite what people might say, mecha is a rich character focused genre with a variety of incredibly unique stories to tell. Here's a collection of shows with short, straight-to-the-point descriptions about each. Note that some of these were translated by fans, and aren't available officially/legally. A good amount of these are available on various streaming services, tho as for all well you might have to sail the high seas a bit. Disregard my personal scores, as its subjective at end of the day and you might like it. Also please don't dismiss some of these just because they're really old, they pretty much all hold up well even today. Check each out, and see what strikes your fancy. Any shows I personally haven't watch I got info on from fellow mecha friends of mine:

Shown below are all known anime derived from Vocaloid projects or featuring the characters of it. Animated Music Videos are not listed, as those are primarily songs themselves, nor are shows that merely reference the franchise or its characters as fictional in-universe, such as through figures or posters in the background.

i made this list for ppl who wanna watch something weird and awesome and cool. hopefully stuff you won't see on many other lists. this is my 3rd time remaking this list, hopefully the mal mods will accept it lmfao

(If an anime series has a train arc or a train plays a bigger part in a series please inform me to add it, give your reasoning of course and you'll get credited for your help! Idk if I'll add shows that have individual train episodes such as Fujiko's Lie that'll just make everything more complex and tedious but if it's a story arc that lasts more than a single episode I might consider it, like with JoJo)

I tried to make this list using mostly lesser-known fanservice-free anime. Most of these make the list based on having MAL ratings lower than PG-13 or having clean ratings for no sexual content or nudity on doesthedogdie.com. Some of the selections in the list do have fanservice in the original Japanese version that was omitted for the Western release.

This list covers any anime that utilizes vocal synths (VOCALOID, UTAU, CeVIO, Synthesizer-V, etc.) in some sort of way. This mostly focuses on direct usages of vocal synths within the shows, but some of the entries here are attached for more unusual reasons.

Note that I will not be counting song videos for this, nor am I cataloging simple references to Miku (so no Hyouka, for instance). I also may not have everything in-scope listed; these are just the ones I know about. If I'm missing anything, please let me know in a DM!!

All Brave Series anime (Brave series was the spiritual successor to Transformers in Japan. It was based on a Takara toyline created by the designers of Transformers)

All Shinkalion anime (Shinkalion is a transforming train toyline made by Takara, one of the makers of Transformers)

All Machine Robo anime (Significant parts of Machine Robo were sold as Gobots in the West; Gobots would later be bought out by Hasbro, owner of Transformers in the West)

The original SDF Macross series (The G1 Jetfire toy is a retool of the VF-1S Super Valkyrie toy designed by Shoji Kawamori, creator of Macross)

All Dorvack anime (Several Dorvack toys were retooled into G1 Transformers toys)

All Tomica anime featuring transforming vehciles (Tomica is made by TomyTakara, the owners of Transformers in Japan)

All Microman anime (Takara started making transforming toys in their Microman toyline, which was known as Micronauts in the West)

All Battle Beasts/Beast Saga anime (Battle Beasts tie into Japanese G1 canon)
