Interest StacksInterested in the genre? Despite what people might say, mecha is a rich character focused genre with a variety of incredibly unique stories to tell. Here's a collection of shows with short, straight-to-the-point descriptions about each. Note that some of these were translated by fans, and aren't available officially/legally. A good amount of these are available on various streaming services, tho as for all well you might have to sail the high seas a bit. Disregard my personal scores, as its subjective at end of the day and you might like it. Also please don't dismiss some of these just because they're really old, they pretty much all hold up well even today. Check each out, and see what strikes your fancy. Any shows I personally haven't watch I got info on from fellow mecha friends of mine: List of Original Anime Series' (not including sequels/specials/movies) Tokusatsu (特撮) is a term originally coined to describe to a specific brand of special effects-heavy live-action movies and television (in fact, the word translates directly as "special effects"). The genre was popularised by Godzilla (1954), though the term actually predates it slightly. Denpa as a genre usually refers to Japanese artistic works with themes associated with social isolation, existentialism, insanity that stems from living modern society, and the glorification of otaku/outsider cultures. Examples of denpa in other mediums include the films of Hideaki Anno (Love and Pop, Ritual) and the films of Shunji Iwai (All About Lily Chou-Chou), as well as the visual novel Wonderful Everyday Down the Rabbit-hole. Flaws... don't go away easily for a lot of people. Whether you're trying to embrace fear, loss, or even trying to fit in when you're different in society really. The cure for so many things is connection and we may think "no one wants to connect with me" but all we need is just to find the right people who appreciate us. Someone who hears our voices, someone who appreciates our existence and accepts us for who we are Just some of the most popular Mecha anime, not the greatest. Some of them that I still need to watch too! This is a part of a series of stacks that are about artistic tendencies in anime (and that border the fine line between sophisticated and pretentious). While the exact definition is vague, "Sekai-Kei" media shares similar themes in reshaping/remaking/changing the world, typically as a result of things on a personal scale such as a relationship or impactful event. This could be literally, but also can be one's perception of the world. There are usually elements that make it not grounded in reality with vaguely explained mystic/religious/magic/fantasy/spiritual elements as opposed to science. Apocalyptic fiction is a common stage setting for sekai-kei, but it is not a condition. You won't need to read the manga/novel or wait for a second season.
