Interest StacksLooking to expand your horizons? This list will introduce you to a few anime with unconventional art styles that will surely take you on an unexpected journey. Worldbuilding - "the process of constructing a world, originally an imaginary one, sometimes associated with a fictional universe." These kinds of shows are usually set in a fantasy and/or sci-fi world, and excel at establishing & showcasing the rules/history/economy of their fictional universe. List was created through collective data from multiple websites of people's answers as to what shows are considered to have great world building. Anime that are made using full CGI are good and underrated. Here are a couple of shows from three different studios that I think do a good job at showing what CGI can do. ┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈ Anime with great worldbuilding, or the development of the fantastical environment and world! None of these anime take place in what you would call 'our universe', rather taking place in an alternative universe or fantasy/ sci-fi setting with amazingly well-tailored and fitting details in technologies and architecture that makes every world unique. Amazing, uplifting and inspiring music! These scores provide heavy immersion and are great for reading to as well! Perhaps its Voice Acting quality, Animation, additional OST or Direction, these series are on-par or go above and beyond at elevating the manga's content. Anime you can only find (or used to only find) on Amazon, I'm going to add anime you could technically watch on HIDIVE (because Sentai has the licenses, they get to share some series). Note that I'm not adding shows which could be considered "old" because they weren't released as amazon-only initially, so no Gamba or Takarajima. Also no 'Ishida to Asakura', you can't fool us with that 2021 date Amazon, it came out in 2013. Not adding shows which are on other streaming platforms in the West (If I were to consider them I'd add a note), so no Asia streams or programming in other regions. Of course, if I get something wrong put it in the comments, this is to keep track of anime on Amazon but don't expect this to be the most "official" list because of expected region differences. Note also that some can be found on Funimation but due to Crunchyroll's merge I'm still unsure about adding them, I mostly get the streaming info from LiveChart although I've noticed it also misses some streams like 'Unbreakable Machine Doll' or the new 'Initial D Legend' movies which are available with Prime. As a side note, Amazon owns the right to many sequels but either has the original on Prime (But I consider other streaming platforms so no 'Psycho-Pass 1') or under a paywall. Main character goes through great trials and tribulations (and maybe a training montage or two) to get to the top. Starts out weak or with little to no power or skill, and becomes stronger/ more powerful/ skillful. These animes were the landmarks in anime industry. Critically acclaimed shows and popular for its story, characters, development, and the amazing experience that the audience might feel. Some of them are old and modern, but it has the same level of "masterpiece" that I've seen so far. Every animated media that has been made has the idea to tell a story and to express a feeling on the watcher. But then, there are some series which has a particular way to evocate their sentiments and they use different tools to do that. Thought provoking writing, displaying the characters' internal monologues, their struggles and fears, using particular cinematographic angles and by blending contrasting styles of animation, coloring and highly symbolical and metaphorical imagery - these are some of the many hallmarks signifying the said animation has psychological themes, and that it is avant-garde in it's approach. This method of expression is not limited to any genre, as well. List of anime featuring at least one LGBT+ character that aren't BL or GL. I try to only put those that are either confirmed canon (in story or by the author) or so explicitly implied that there's little to none other interpretation. Series that emphasise the presentation of struggle and dramatic event(s) through culminating the portrayal of the experience to that point visually or by some other means. anime featuring liminal spaces and which may or may not also embody the liminal. a transitional space, unsettling un-belonging, altered reality Would the world have been a better place if religion doesn't exist? What right does religion have to decide what's good and bad? Are they really the guide to life? My personal recommendations for amazing "SOL" anime that have subtle/intensive feels and deep themes/ideas. Just as the title says, this will be an interest stack containing anime that someone has as their favorite anime of all time. This stack will be dependent ENTIRELY off of other people telling me what their favorite anime is, so if you don’t see your favorite anime here, just go and tell me what your favorite anime is via profile comment or private message and I’ll go and add it to this stack. If your favorite anime actually is in this stack, then still please be honest about what your favorite anime is. I'll also be mentioning users in the notes of the anime they claim are their favorite anime. I’ll begin this stack by adding 5 anime I definitely know are someone’s favorite anime. Deception can be scary. Is the world you live in really what you perceive? Do you believe in what you see or see what you believe? What is the truth and what is the lie? Is anyone benefiting from the lies and who is struggling from the truth? If everyone believes in a lie, does the lie become the truth? What happens if what you think is wrong has been the right one all along? Will you switch sides, or will you stay? |
