New Interest Stack
Interest Stacks(The list only contains anime which I've been watching or completed. It would be updated constantly. Also, the commentaries would focus on the female characters. Plus my English vocab is lacking, sorry for that if you see "strong" or "unique" so many times...) Thrown together for personal reference; does not include shows that I cannot vet the content of due to having no experience watching, and the quality of shows listed is irrelevant. Animes with female leads packing with action Explicitly Cannon Couples and Hard Subtext Shows. Subtext shows listed here have substantial content and not just a little bit of teasing here and there. Subtext can also be an unspoken focal point of the series. These are shows I can actually recommend and like enough to suggest checking out. Coming-of-age stories are about characters growing into the next stage of their lives, from adolescence into adulthood. Magical realism involves the inclusion of fantasy elements in stories that otherwise take place within the real world, normalizing them as part of the world even if not everyone can see it. I believe that these subgenres beautifully compliment each other, and I have an affinity for stories that do this. The addition of fantastical elements into a realistic setting emphasizes the mundanity of our lives, and the addition of magical whimsy can highlight the beauty within our mundane lives, and create a heightened sense of beauty and atmosphere to scenes, or emphasize the sense of the mysterious unknown that comes with growing up. Fantasy can sometimes serve as a parallel to things that exist in our lives, and in other cases, the fantasy can be something we need to leave behind as we grow up. Regardless of how or why it's incorporated, I find it to be a wonderful combination, so I'm going to highlight some anime coming-of-age stories with magical realism that I enjoy. The first season of any show listed will count for the entire series. A list of anime that revolve around the following topics: Idols, bands and music. Animes focused on the world of entertainment, the music industry, different types of disciplines and art. Anime that more people should watch. Could be called “gems” depending on your familiarity with anime. Only anime below an 8.00 rating are included because any above would be too obvious. This interest stack contains all of the anime that have been discussed on the iDOL D@YS podcast. (go listen to it on Spotify, it's great) As much as I love Kidou Senshi Gundam Thunderbolt, I couldn't include it because most sites don't count it. Feel free to let me know if I've missed any! Yeah, we get it. You wanna ship two guys together. Well then, what about we make a twist on that for once, and ship two girls together that aren’t cannon? I mean, they’re hot and they look nice together, so why not? These entries are compiled up of series where it’s CGDCT or where two girls are close to each other and often think about each other. Anime that comes packaged with socio-political commentary. Sometimes as subtext or metaphor, sometimes screamed out loud with abandon. An anime whose plot or premise is heavily based on various real-life brands. For example, Shonen Jump in Bakuman or Honda motorcycle in Super Cub. You can also find a guide to real Japanese beer at Takunomi or sweets at Dagashi Kashi. In other words, if you are interested in anime about real Japanese things, then this stack is for you. |
