Konbini Kareshi

The lives of high school freshmen Haruki Mishima and Towa Honda revolve around studying, clubs, and girls. Amid their hectic routines, romance is certainly budding for the two best friends. Since childhood, Haruki has been pining over Miharu Mashiki, and a chance encounter at the convenience store reignites his feelings. As for Towa, the class representative Mami Mihashi has caught his eye; but unfortunately for him, his affections are not reciprocated.

While Haruki's more reserved approach to pursuing Miharu contrasts Towa's persistence with Mami, love seems to be elusive for both. As the months fly by, only time will tell if romance is in the cards for the duo.

First of all, that damn truck in the end got me pissed!! (If you know you know)

The anime itself is not bad, Konbini Kareshi is actually very enjoyable and cozy, the relationship between the main character and his best friend is very nice to see, BUT, man... that Haruki is q wimp... JESUS, it just took too long for something to happen!!

I felt like Towa was more engaged throughout the story than Haruki, they basically gave him 2 episodes ( Those being the last ones) to be himself, but that is not enough time, the ending was completely loose for me.

Chasing after someone ... throughout the hole series and then A FUCKING TRUCK KILLS MY FU@@@ moment... I didn’t enjoy the ending, it was a 9/10 until that ending, and because of it, it’s a 7/10. I DONT WANT TO LEAVE THE ENDING TO MY IMAGINATION!!!! Make it real!!!

But it’s not a bad show, watch it.

Mixed Feelings

At a glance the anime starts off reasonably well, the animation is clean and the sound quality is to a reasonable watchable standard, it stars 2 guys and 2 girls in a typical school environment and they're basically tasked with the idea of creating a romantic bond together as you would see in other usual romance animes. The romance in this had really good potential and it's nice to see the characters develop and chat with each other. It falls short on having an actual good plot though as not much actually occurs, the anime focuses on too many characters and it would have personally ... been better to have just focussed on one romantic relationship and interest rather than multiple as it tends to steal that romantic atmosphere away. In terms of actual romance itself we don't see anything intimate at all not even something like a kiss scene or anything. The relationships in certain parts feel sometimes forced and it almost feels as if the characters don't even want a relationship. The atmosphere altogether gets kind of ruined here and without any actual romance that being physically nor mentally it appears really bland. The ending is disappointing and is quite unfulfilling despite the time you would put into watching it.

Depending on what romance animes you're into will navigate your choice in watching this but personally this does not feel like a romance anime at all more so a slice of life.

I've never write a review for an anime, but I feel I need to at least do something with the time I invested watching this one.

Being honest, I watched it because of a clip I found on YouTube of a funny moment and I thought "oh it seems good"... But it wasn't.

Let me start. Since the beginning I felt the story was a bit off. I felt the expressions of the characters were not complete, they didn't match with what was happening or what they were saying. I know some animes like to keep the viewer thinking and making you infer what the characters ... is thinking rather than explaining it to you. But half of the time with this story I was like totally lost. Or it could be just my ADHD making me lose focus but I just got lost SO many times because I didn't understood what was happening.

Part of the problem for me also, was that on the opening they show you like six couples and we end up stuck with just the 2 that are the more predictable ones. I really wanted to see how the story of the other couples was going to be developed, but it never happened.

It was so inconclusive in so many aspects. The only episode I got really excited was when they explain the title of the series, and I got there just because I didn't wanted to have another anime dropped on my list, it wasn't like they had build up enough excitement for me to be looking for that moment.
Even the most important thing of the story was ruined by the most cliche thing in romance/drama anime!!

They had such good things to work with, but I feel they didn't developed the couples and characters properly. It could have been a great series.

To finish my review, I have to say I was just so disappointed with the ending, that I thought there was an episode 13.
