Saint Seiya manga series is written and illustrated by Masami Kurumada. It was serialized in Shueisha's shōnen manga magazine Weekly Shōnen Jump from 1985 to 1990, with its chapters collected in 28 tankōbon volumes.

The manga was adapted by Toei Animation into a 114-episode anime television series which was broadcast on TV Asahi from 1986 to 1989. Saint Seiya was later continued with three original video animations released from 2002 to 2008. Four animated feature films premiered in Japanese theaters from 1987 to 1989, with a fifth in 2004 and a sixth in 2014.

The Saint Seiya manga had over 50 million copies in circulation as of 2022, making it one of the best-selling manga series of all time. Both the original manga and the anime adaptation were successful internationally across Asia, Europe, and Latin America.

Canal 5 is a Mexican free-to-air television network owned by TelevisaUnivision. It traces its origins to the foundation of Channel 5 in Mexico City in 1952 (also known by its identification code XHGC-TDT). Canal 5's program lineup is generally targeted at a younger audience and includes cartoons, foreign series and movies, along with a limited number of sporting events such as NFL games, boxing, the FIFA World Cup and, historically, the Olympic Games.

Canal 5 is mainly aimed at children and youth audiences, although in late hours it usually includes a more general concept with television series and reality shows. Over the decades among its programming, it includes many series purchased from networks such as Nickelodeon and Cartoon Network, among others; while the series aimed at the general public often come from Paramount Network, Fox Broadcasting Company, Warner Bros. (now known as Warner Bros. Discovery), Sony Group Corporation, ViacomCBS (now Paramount Global), MTV, NBCUniversal, Lionsgate, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer among others. The channel also broadcasts series produced by the company TelevisaUnivision, which owns the channel. Azteca 7 (with its main transmission headquarters in the signal call XHIMT-TDT), is a private Mexican television network owned by Televisión Azteca. Its generalist programming has been characterized (in most of its history) by having a youthful and children's cut with the broadcast of cartoons and comedy series, which has made it the main competitor at the national level in free-to-air TV, Televisa's Canal 5.
